Season 3, Episode 32: The Sound of Dischordia
"The Sound of Dischordia"
Episode 32
Air Date: November 25th, 1995
You know Master Vile had such a awesome run of episodes that it's said to see him already reduced to Lord Zedd and Rita level of shenanigans by making a monster that will ruin Katherine and Aisha's music making when they want to enter a singing contest. I suppose Dischordia has an awesome design and Vile's plan isn't as bad as ruining Kimebrly's float or recently making a ranger want to excessively eat but still I couldn't stand this episode because of its overt silliness. I know this is Power Rangers and it should be expected but I couldn't help but notice by interest in the episode being drained until the end. I honestly didn't even care for the trivial nature of the dilemma at hand with Kat having trouble with singing in front of the school with Aisha thinking she wasn't good enough. I mean she gets over it before the first commercial break so why should we care.
Like I said, Dischordia has an nice design as a monster but her powers were of course of the ridiculous Power Rangers variety as she forces the rangers to dance like idiots. I mean it is amusing seeing the rangers dance like that in their suits but after a while, it loses it's charm and I can't help role my eyes at absurdity of it. If that wasn't bad enough, we get more of that Metallic Armor non-sense that looks tacky as hell and I just can't stand it. We have the rangers in glitter covered suits battling a monster that can sing so badly that it can force the rangers to dance at will....WOW!!! o_O
The episode of course, concludes with a climatic zord battle with both Megazords and Ninjor coming together to fight Dischordia. I have to admit the fight isn't bad and has some decent action with Dischordia using lightning to make herself stronger. Eventually, the thunderous night becomes a bright day as Ninjor, in Battle Mode, uses his attack to finish her off and the Shogun Ultrazord comes in to destroy her for good. Vile of course is not phased by this and believes he will eventually destroy the rangers as well as the world. Katherine and Aisha sing their song and win the contest, yada, yada, yada....Overall, "The Sound of Dischordia" is an episode worth missing, it's just your average Power Ranger silliness and filler.
Final Morph: D+
