"White Light, Part 1"
Episode 17
Air Date: October 17th, 1994
Well, things are certainly getting pretty eventful now that Tommy is on his way back home from break. There's quite a bit that happens in this episode with not the teens getting ready to surprise Tommy with a surprise party but Rita's urn has some how landed back in Angel Grove...after Lord Zedd was suppose to send across the far reaches of the universe. Guess it must have been a boomerang affect as it some how ends up not only at Angel Grove Park, but near Bulk and Skull who happen upon it while Rita is sleeping in it. Some how they think that by opening it, they will find the identities of the Power Rangers, though I'm sure if Rita were to get out that the last thing she would do is reveal the rangers identities......hmmmmmm........
In other news, while all this is going on Alpha and Zordon turn off the Command Center as they head out on a secret mission to the hidden chamber. It's all very mysterious but just because there isn't an attack by Lord Zedd currently in the city doesn't mean it won't be attacked later you two. Lord Zedd picks up on this on the Moon Palace and figures something must have happened to tip the balance of good and evil; making the rangers very vulnerable to an attack. We also learn that Lord Zedd and Zordon's conflict is what keeps the Morphin' Grid active; so if one of them is out of the picture, the rangers won't stay morphed for long.....hmmmmmm...... So Lord Zedd decides this is the right time to put Tommy back under the spell of evil and make him his new heir to the throne. He puts a spell on the near by Sentinel Statue at Angel Grove park where the teens on to prepare it to turn into Nimrod, the Scarlet Sentinel...long name but it's one of the monster names we've gotten in a while. o_o
Meanwhile, Billy and Jason go over to investigate the crash landing of Rita's urn and like I said, gets taken by Bulk and Skull to Skull's father's garage so they can force it open and find out the secrets of the Power Rangers....wow!!! -_- During that Zack notices that the statue is leaking green goo profusely and tells Trini and Kimberly. As they notice it too, they try to contact Zordon and Alpha but of course, they're off on their mysterious mission. They then contact Billy and Jason as they teleport next to them just in time so Billy can figure out what's going on with the statue. Lord Zedd pissed off by this, sends down the Putties to distract the rangers as usual so the monster can continue to grow from the statue. What follows is a great and unfortunately the last full team unmorphed fight we will have of the original 5 rangers. They all really kick ass, especially Zack and Trini. After the first the teens decide to investigate at the Command Center. There they find nothing and all the power off. Billy sees what he can do about it at his garage as usual but when Lord Zedd finally summons the monster from the statue, the rangers have no choice but to morph into action after hearing attacks outside.
The rangers engage the monster and they try to fend off it's attacks until Zedd makes Nimrod grow. The rangers show him the power of Thunder as Jason exclaims and summon their Thunder zords to form the Mega Thuderzord. The fight the monster but the megazord gets owned after Nimrod summons two other monsters to help it battle the megazord. For some reason, Billy says he'll teleport to the Command Center and falls out of the megazord. At the Command Center, Billy once again, investigates for Zordon and Alpha and some how uses a special code to access the hidden chamber. Billy enters it and falls into a room where he overhears Zordon and Alpha above a vent....seeming to be making a new rangers.....GASP!!! O_O Overall, it's a decent episode but nothing worth being called a two parter for. I'm sure part 2 will be better, but the first half is pretty anti-climatic.....I wonder who the new ranger could be!!?? lol Too bad Tommy came out of that lake and teleported away in pain....couldn't be him....dammit!!! ;)
Final Morph: C+
