MMAR Season 3.5, Episode 7: Along Came A Spider
"Along Came A Spider"
Episode 7
Air Date: February 13th, 1996
I got to admit, the monster in this episode, Archnofiend, look very creepy with it's glowing white eyes in the dark as well as hen it reveals it's true form. The way it lurks in the shadows, then pops out of no where to attack it's victims was pretty disturbing and I like that. As the rest of the rangers continue on their journey with the Zeo Quest, Billy must get a phase modulator to use for the Zeo Sub Crystal Transformer that they will use to bring the Earth back to it's current time. While Billy goes to Angel Grove University to get one, Cestro and Tideus go off to find a water supply to re-hydrate. Seriously, there is nothing to these Alien Rangers besides needing water and being weird because they don't understand Earth customs. Then again, this mini-series is basically stalling until Zeo can begin with very little story and just more filler but I guess I'll take it for the action cause at times it can be enjoyable. Anyway, while Billy is talking to a Professor at the University, Cestro and Tideus go to a freakin' Car Wash to hydrate....cause no one notices, asks questions or tries to stop them???
Oh yeah, some Tengas show up and make asses of themselves while trying to stall them. Meanwhile, Lord Zedd turns a spider into Archnofiend to capture and stop Billy from using the phase modulator. As Billy returns home to his garage and is shock, surprised and taken by the monster. When Cestro and Tideus return to the garage, they investigate the webbing all over until Zordon contacts them telepathically. They teleport to the Command Center to meet the others as Zordon tells them what their up against and where to find Billy. They morph and head to the underground caves to find Billy and the phase modulator before it's too late. They fight off the Arachnofiend until Zedd makes it grow and they call on their Battle Borgs; then their Shogun Zords to destroy her. As Billy and the phase modulator are free, Billy thanks the Alien Rangers for saving him.
Meanwhile, Rito and Goldar are still roaming around the tunnels of the Command Center and end up outside....ha! Meanwhile, Adam ends up in the past in Korea where another person can randomly speak English.....what luck???! -_- Anyway, Adam is being followed by some creepy old man as he looking for Kai Ogi, a wise sage that will lead him to the Sub Crystal. After annoying Adam and falling to find him, Adam finally realizes the old man is Kai Ogi and leads him to a small waterfall where the crystal is held. After getting it, Adam thanks him, says goodbye and teleports away with the Sub Crystal. He arrives back in the present, past....whatever, to add his Sub Crystal. Overall, this episode wasn't bad, I liked the creepy monster of the week and Adam's quest wasn't so bad. Isn't little Adam just adorable though??? :)
