Season 2, Episode 29: Goldar's Vice-Versa
"Goldar's Vice-Versa"
Episode 29
Air Date: November
You know I was wondering where Scorpina was during the whole time Zedd had arrived and has been battling the Power Rangers. What exactly has she been doing? Causing chaos on other planets??/ Training to become a better warrior for Zedd's rule??? Or has she been working on her stunning figure??? :P Whatever the case, it's very enjoyable to see her back wrecking havoc alongside Goldar as it brought me right back to those nostalgic Season 1 memories of her battling the rangers and using her Scorpion sting. It's shame that are reappearance is done by a new actress, as I miss the original Asian actress with the horribly missed match ADR!!! lol Also when it comes to the fight between the rangers and the two generals, I wish more was done with the two of them. Scorpina was such a force to be reckoned back last season, that it's a shame she was quickly forced into retreat with Goldar.
Speaking of Goldar, it's nice seeing him in action this episode. Since Lord Zedd has taken over, Goldar been reduced to a pitiful lackey than the threatening general he use to be for Rita. I think it has a lot to do with the new Sentai footage being adapted and Goldar not being in it. Though it's a shame as he keeps getting owned by the rangers. First by Tommy, then Billy in "Opposites Attract" than by Tommy again here as he's more than capable of handling both Scorpina and Goldar. So the the new megazord combination finally has a name or is named in this episode by Zordon: Thunder Ultrazord. Nice! Although why it's being brought up now when the rangers have used this formation like twice now is just weird but it gets the job done by defeating both generals and leading them in a retreat.
As for the episode's plot itself, it's mostly focused on Adam as he has to figure out how to get a date for the Vice Versa dance. As for the first episode with the new status quo of the new team it was fine but it's still real early to get a feel of who the new characters are. Like I said, we've seen them as allies but now we have to see them as individual people as well as rangers. So we will see how that goes. As far as Bulk and Skull, I enjoyed their sub-plot for once as those two girls going after them, though what they see in them I have no clue. I also enjoyed the nice bit of continuity of Laura from "Opposites Attract" returning to ask Billy out to the dance to the new rangers being clueless about who Scorpina is? It's moments like that probably address the history of the show while propelling the plot forward. Nice! Also, Sabrina's interaction with Aisha....PRICELESS!!! :)
