Season 2, Episode 48: Storybook Rangers, Part 1
"Storybook Rangers, Part 1"
Episode 48
Air Date: May 1st, 1995
Well, we get another two parter and for one, it has a very Wizard of Oz type feel to it with Kimberly, Rocky and Tommy get trapped in a storybook from Kimberly's childhood/ Like I said, I like the Wizard of Oz visuals of the storybook as well as Kim's excitement over being in her storybook and getting to meet Grumble the Magical Elf. Then you have the moment where the rangers run into a dangerous snow giant. You can tell these are reused and modified old monster costumes as the snow giant was clearly Primator from "Wanna-Be Ranger". I guess what I don't feel like that the rangers are in real danger hear. Even when the Putties showed up to steal Grumble's toys, it didn't feel like they were in dire need of being saved.
Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull also find a book at the Book Fair which turns out to be a "How to make a monster" or something of that rather. It's just more stupid hijniks from them to get into as Skull mistakenly uses the other book they got for his mom "How to make Thanksgiving dinner" to finish off the monster. Meanwhile, Zedd and Rita gloat about how they will finish off the rest of the rangers with the monster that Bulk and Skull have created. But why??? O_o Do the villains really need to get ideas from those bumbling idiots???
Lastly, Aisha, Billy and Adam are busy tracking them down and hoping to find their location. After waiting at the Youth Center and checking with Miss Applebee at the Book Store, they head to the Command Center to see if Zordon and Alpha can help find them. When they do find the rangers in the book, it is right when the snow giant is attacking them and they have no clue where Kimberly's book is. The rangers are then caught in an avalanche as the episode closes with "To Be Continued...." Not a bad first part to these pair of episodes. Once again, I'm gonna base by opinion on Part 2 and how the story concludes on this multiparter in general, so we'll see.....
Final Morph: C+
