Man, that Sean is COLD!!! O_o He really had Chloe on ice!!! Dude, really should cool off!!! There, I got all the puns out....I mean come on! That's what the writers were essentially going for with this heat sucking freak of the week! This time, it's our intrepid high school reporter Chloe Sullivan who is a target and I love how the episode gives us a bit more insight on her character, not much but enough to satisfy. Other then Whitney, Chloe's the only other original supporting character from this series so far. We know she's headstrong, opinionated, a bit quirky, has a love for journalism and may or may nor have a crush on Clark. When Sean asks for her phone number, it's a chance for Chloe to go out with someone she can have more than a friendship and an actual relationship. It's too bad Sean Kelvin was a cold blooded dog before the meteor rocks under a frozen lake turned into Captain Cold....sorry, thought I was done with the puns!!!! :( As for Sean, he's a serviceable villain with a passable performance from Michael Coristine. I mean you don't really find Sean to be threatening, even his attack scenes are pretty anti-climatic instead of that one scene where he sucks the heat out of Jenna and she literally falls to pieces. The make-up for him is cool I guess....oh god, I'm doing it again!!! -_-

In sub-plot land, Clark finally decides to ask Lana out when Chloe tells him to take a chance and Lex gives him some older, brotherly advice as well as Radiohead tickets. It's nice to see some plot movement with Clark and Lana's relationship, even if it's just "not a date" date. Their scene in the limo was cute, especially Clark uses his latest power to show Lana he knows "magic". lol There is clearly an attraction between the two but Lana of course, is with Whitney. In other news, the Kent Farm in debt when Joanthan and Martha are trying to figure out how to pay for it. It leads to Lex trying to help them out as we get more friction between him and Jonathan over what's best for the farm. It's a decent sub-plot only to see more of the budding heads of these two men. It's always funny how Jonathan could never seem to like Lex even in there early episodes, even in one scene saying Lex was "Like father, like son".  It's nice to see even then Jonathan knew who Lex was destined to be and no matter how Lex tried to prove himself he never could make him see the light in him that would slowly deem over the course of his run in the series.

Though I'm noticing so far, Whitney and especially Pete are getting the short end of the plots of the week. I mean Whitney is off watching pay per view with his friends while Pete is out with some random friend that turns out to be his date in the end. I'm sure it's because the writers were still figuring out how to write for all the characters but besides Whitney coming off as a jealous boyfriend and Pete coming in to joke around with Clark and Chloe, there isn't much to their characters yet besides that. Either way, the episode was average as even the climatic showdown was really anti-climatic, it always amazes me how this show would become the show of accidental defeats for the weekly villain as well as the show with characters who would have the most head injuries/concussions/brain damage. Not bad, but not great either! Gotta feel bad for poor Clark in the end though, left all alone and realizing he's still in the friendzone. :(
