Air Date: November 16th, 1994

Here's when the season becomes problematic for me when it comes to the new characters. You see, the thing is...when it comes to the majority of the new characters/rangers....ok, namely Rocky and Adam.....are very bland. It's not their fault really it's just hard for the writers to get a hang on these new characters for a while. The same thing will happen with Kat next season but I'm getting ahead of myself again. The problem with this episode is Rocky is put under a spell by Lord Zedd and it acting all irresponsible and everyone is saying it not like him.....besides the fact that they and we the audience don't really know Rocky, Adam and Aisha. Character wise, Aisha is the most lively, gravitating toward Kimberly but we don't have any idea what kind of person she is really. Same with Rocky and Adam. While the original 5 were stereotypes, AT LEAST they had defined personalities. Jason was the serious leader, Zack was the fun loving life of the party, Billy was the scientific nerd, Kimberly the vacuous valley girl and Trini, her more mature and disciplined best friend. That's why last episode's declaration of Aisha being Kimberly's best friend felt forced as hell. O_O Who the hell of these new people??? We don't even really know them yet, let alone their relationship toward the veteran rangers!!!

That being sad, it's hard to see if Rocky's sudden irresponsibility and obsession with fun is out of character or not. I certainly don't and the episode doesn't really do the characters any favors in making him develop. I mean at the end of the episode Rocky is suppose to learn some lesson about not getting consumed with fun and learn to concentrate but it was freakin' Lord Zedd's spell that made him irresponsible in the first place so...HUH??? It wasn't Rocky....or is it like Rocky to have too much fun....define these new characters writers, because I'm confused as to what kind of person Rocky is!!! -_-  Anyway, as far as plans go, Lord Zedd is just getting petty again like Rita; hatching schemes and plans that are more of an inconvenience to the rangers than an actual threat. Seriously, how is making Rocky fun loving going to hurt the team again??? Apparently, it was suppose to hurt the power dynamic of them team; making them weaker because of it.....ok??? O_O

As for our monster of the day, Pachinko Head, he has a cool design and it was interesting to see him care more about having fun like Rocky than destroying the rangers but that's about it. The zord fight was decent with the Mega Thunderzord finishing it off with it slash. Although what seriously bugs me is how once again, Lord Zedd and Goldar come through with Serpentra and instead of just out right destroying the rangers as well as the city, we get a rehash of the footage from "The Power Transfer, Part 1" with Serpentra attacking the Red Dragonzord and Tor, the Carrier zord until it runs out of power and they are forced to retreat. I swear that thing is so badass and powerful but the fact that is can't last in battle for a certain amount of time is just laughable and really made the end of that whole fight kind of pointless. Overall, "Rocky Just Wants To Have Fun" is filler and sad because they really could have used this episode to finally give one of the new characters some needed  development but besides Rocky running around and playing kickball with Pachinko Head, not really I guess. O_o
