Season 2, Episode 19: Two For One

"Two For One"
Episode 19
Air Date: October 24th, 1994

Ehhh!!! It's a shame that this episode, coming after such a strong two parter, decided to go back to basics for as usual. I hate it for everytime we get a hand full of plot driven episodes, we get even MORE filler!!! It's nice see Kimberly and Tommy advancing their relationship by going on a date once but the monster plot of the day felt so weak!!! I mean you have two monsters and they are both relatively underused and underwhelming villains, as most monsters in the early season of the franchise are. I guess it's nice to see the White Ranger in action, but why is such a powerful new ally needed when Zedd's monster aren't even getting stronger but more of a nuisance than anything else. Also using Kimberly's mom's purse to make a monster is just...well....it's Power Rangers, who am I kidding.

Pursehead is an immediate threat when he freezes Kimberly and Tommy in their place with a mirror. When Zack tries to go off and free them him by himself but he gets frozen too. Meanwhile, Trini and Billy are give the mission to come up with a device to free the others while Jason faces off against Lipsyncer. The fight between much consists of Jason in American footage fitting the monster in Sentai Footage. It's kind of pathetic and not even edited that well. Although the moment where Jason scratches Lipsycer's face is funny. Lord Zedd, watching the fight gets all pissy and makes Lipsyncher grow. As Jason calls for Red Dragon Thunderzord and battles Lipsnycer, the monster begins to kick his ass, needing the help of the other rangers. As Billy and Trini watch alongside Alpha, they worry that the zord won't last in battle or something. Finally, they manage to finish the device and morph into action. I love how Trini's ADR now particularly sucks as she detracts the monster2 while Billy frees the others. While all 5 rangers surround the monster, Zordon orders the rangers to help Jason while Tommy deals with Pursehead.

Tommy vs Pursehead....meh, mediocre fight!!! The monster's defeat being pretty anti-climatic given how apparently powerful it was!! O_o Meanwhile, the rangers call on their Thunderzords and for the first time, we see the individual zords attack the monster. The 4 Thunderzords then form the Carrier Mode again and the Red Dragon Thunderzord jumps on. As Lipsyncer blasts them, the zords dodge it and the Red Dragon zord jumps off to attack the monster to finish it with it's twirling staff move. The monster is destroyed and all is well. Bulk and Skull are as stupid as ever going into the lake to search for the freakin' Power Rangers, seriously WTF!? Anyway, this episode was a complete snorefest. It just kind of bored me with two monster threats that were very insignificant. Just a waste of time all around.
