Season 6, Episode 7: A Ranger Among Thieves
"A Ranger Among Thieves"
Episode 7
Air Date: March 20th, 1998
Ewwwww, this episode was all kinds of boring. I get the whole fish out of water approach with Andros being an alien and not from this planet but there is no excuse for this episode to be so snooze worthy. So while T.J., Cassie, Ashley and Carlos take their latest math test, they leave poor Andros to just explore Angel Grove on his lonesome. Smart idea guys!!! Just leave Andros completely alone on a planet is unfamiliar with and has no way of navigating through because he's a freakin' alien. Anyway, Adele's reporting her delivery van missing to some cops when we are introduced to three new characters; a trio of thieves who's leader is clearly a douchbag while the other two are more sympathetic. One of them notices Andros' awkward behavior and give him a hand while Andros returns the favor by helping them play pool.
Long story short, Andros befriends them and inadvertently helps them steal a car with his telekinesis. As they are riding together, Andros notices a thief stealing an old woman's bag and he helps stop him. Hahahaha, it's funny because Andros' new friends are....SIGHHH...anyway, Andros soon discovers their thieves and is going to tell Adele when the leader tries to stop him. Long story short again, the two nice thieves help Andros escape Astronema's latest monster and they eventually confess to Adele that they stole the van while the leader gets arrested by the cops. Wanna guess what the moral of the story is??? -_- Ehhh, it's practically forced down out throats with over sentimentality but that's just typical Power Rangers PSA garbage.
The main monster of the day plot features Voltage Hog stealing energy from Angel Grove. We get a couple of run ins between him and Andros before Ecliptor randomly shows up again. He kicks Andros' and eventually the rangers' asses when the rest of the arrive but the rangers have a new weapon with them. The Quadro Blaster, which the 4 rangers use to defeat Ecliptor....for the moment. They eventually take the fight back to Voltage Hog, combining their weapons to defeat him. But of course, Astronema orders the Satell lasers to be fired and the monster grows. The rangers call on Astron Megazord and they use it to destroy Voltage Hog. Meanwhile, while spying on the Professor with Bulk and Skull, Astronema begins forming her next plan. All and All, "A Ranger Among Thieves" is rather forgettable and unforgivable on how boring it is overall.
Final Morph: D+
