Season 5, Episode 1: Shift Into Turbo, Part 1
"Shift Into Turbo, Part 1"
Episode 1
Air Date: April 19th, 1997
Shame on you writers for making the Turbo movie look good with that awesome recap of the movie as the rangers tell ex-ranger, Rocky, about their last adventure....and unfortunately, the first of many adventures as the new Turbo Rangers. Like the movie, I gonna be quick about this review and leave out the small details because honestly Turbo will be hard to sit through...at least for the first half anyway!!! -_- So while Kat, Tanya and Adam are getting ready for their graduation ceremony (Seriously, these forever teens finally graduate) and....sigh, Tommy is at the race track racing of course because CARSSSSS!!! -_- Divatox, now played by the less entertaining and boring Carol Hoyt, is rallying her forces on another planet after the events of the Turbo movie to seek revenge on the Power Rangers for ruining her wedding to Maligore. Like I said in the Turbo movie review, that was a good thing they did for you Divatox and didn't you not find the guy attractive!??? O_o Anyway, after the awesome recap of the movie, Rocky tells Justin and the others that he will now contract on his karate school and his powers are now in good hands....youthful, prepubescent, immature hands, but eventually good hands no less as we'll come to find out about Justin. :)
Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull.....are still alive and breathing as they try to work on give tickets out to some cars and Lt. Stone finally mentions that they were rehired by the Junior Police Patrol, which I highly don't after how much those idiots screw up. Ummm, on the unknown planet, Divatox assigns Rygog as her second in command, new character Porto as her technical adviser.....*breathes*....and Elgor is just kept around because she wants to watch over him. Yes, because all we need is a bumbling moronic villain to make this show more overbearing than Bulk and Skull!!! -_- Anyway, once Divatox and her crew arrive on Earth, she comes up with a plan that......OMG....NO, not, the detonator plots....for the LOVE OF GOD.....I can't do this.....someone slap me!!! Ohhh fine, I'll do it myself!!! ............Ahhhh much better....so Divatox wants to ruin the rangers' graduation ceremony by sending Elgar of all people to the Angel Grove Power Plant to blow it up. Yes, because watching a petty Space Pirate ruin a graduation is MUCH, MUCH more entertaining than an evil empire ruled by endless machines!!! -_- What the hell were the writers thinking with this bullsh!t???!! Doug Sloan wrote this???!! o_o WWOWWWWWW!!!
Ehhh, anyway, Alpha bakes the rangers a cake for this graduation, Justin stays behind to learn about the communicators, Elgar goes to the Power Plant and turns Bulk and Skull into chimps (The only redeeming factor of this beyond boring episode) and.....ahahahha, Elgar gets his ass kicked by a 12 year old Justin when Justin goes to investigate the plant. Omg!!! I just.......ARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!! -_- I just gonna talk about the many changes between the movie and show so far instead of this dreadful first parter. Also, I'll talk about the changes in the show in general since Zeo. Alpha is shinier and the bolt on his chest is straight now, Zordon's voice has changed again becoming lighter and using more of a filter on his voice, the new foot soldiers of the season, the Piranathron, look more alien than men in masks and armor, the show now begins with a cold opening before the opening theme and the Power Chamber tubes no longer hold the rangers' old Mighty Morphin suits but is now their colors instead and instead of looking all bigger and spacious in the movie, the Power Chamber is back to it regular size. Sigh...that's about it...on to the next episode!!! *Groan*
