Season 5, Episode 2: Shift Into Turbo, Part 2
"Shift Into Turbo, Part 2"
Episode 2
Air Date: April 26th, 1997
Sigh. Let me just start with what didn't annoy me about this episode....actually nope, I'll start with what annoyed me!!! -_- So the episode opens with Justin kicking Elgar's ass!!! Yes, little 12 year old Justin can kick an full grown alien ass without his powers. God, Elgar sucks!!! What a pathetic villain so far and we aren't even passed the premiere episodes yet!!! Jesus!!! -_- I guess I like the Turbo morph sequence, even if seeing Justin grow in his suit makes me cringe everytime. This is the first season where the morphing call changes as instead of "It's Morphin' Time!!!", it's "Shift into Turbo!!!" which isn't bad, it's just not as awesome as iconic morphing call. So with Justin fighting Elgar and a squad of those lame Piranathron, Kat, Adam and Tanya become worried about him when he doesn't show up at the graduation. Adam sneaks off to contact Zordon and he tells him where he sent Justin. Adam tells the girls about Justin and they literally bail from their graduation with a dumb excuse they give to Caplan about having to do something important. Yes, because you can just do that at your graduation!!! Come and go as you please!!! At least tell him it's an emergency!!! -_-
Anyway, Divatox is watching them on her Subcraft with her periscope and decides to delay the rangers by appearing to them herself with a group of Piranathron. I gotta say one thing good about this season is they bring back the unmorphed fighting!!! I missed it in Season 3 and especially Season 4!! Luckily, the Piranathron a pathetic enough where they can be easily handled unmorphed by the rangers unlike the more dangerous and imposing Cogs from Zeo. Finally, Kat and Tanya morph to help Justin at the Power Plant while Adam stays behind to deal with the Divatox and the Piranathron on his own. Which I sure he can.....ohh come on dude, you'd fought more convincing villains and far superior foot soldiers than this, why are you struggling even morphed!!!? -_- Anyway, Tommy soon joins Adam to help (I love it how Zordon has to apologize when contacting Tommy....since when Zordon, Tommy ain't doing sh!t! o_O Get out of here with that bullsh!t!!! -_- Anyway, Tommy saves Adam and take care of the foot soldiers until Divatox retreats with them. Adam and Tommy head to the Power Plant as all five rangers reunite and take care the Elgar and the Piranathron who soon teleport away.
Soon the Turbo rangers begin investigating the plant to see what Elgar was doing there and split up into two teams. When Justin goes to the Power Chamber to retrieve the Turbo Navigator to track down the disturbance there, Alpha's acting are tense and weird while Zordon tells Justin the Navigator has been tuned up or whatever! Anyway!!! I HATE the new teleporting effect this season. What's up with Turbo and the terrible CGI sparks!!! They look so fake even for their time!!! The old teleporting effect was simple but cool, this new effect with the sparks is just bizarre, bad and needlessly complex. Anyway, with the Turbo Navigator, they finally find the detonator but Rygog and more Piranathron are sent to stop them. Tommy takes the bomb as the others get the foot soldiers out his way so Zordon can send Turbo RAM so Tommy can get the detonator as far as possible from the plant. I love how all the other rangers yell at him when HE'S DOING EXACTLY WHAT THEY'RE DOING BEFORE THEY TOLD HIM!!! -_- Yaaaayyyy, the rangers save the Power Plant!!! Yaaaayyy, the rangers make it back in time to graduate!!! Oh God, the Chimps are sticking around with Lt. Stome!!! Noooooooo!!! Oh and there's a warm hole to Eltar apparently and Divatox plans on stopping it!! Oh Boy!!! -_-
