Season 4, Episode 28: A Small Problem
"A Small Problem"
Episode 28
Air Date: September 19th, 1996
Awwww, this episode was so tiny compared to the others. So much was done in a short amount of time. What minuscule situation at hand. Any of these puns working for ya??? O_O So some of the teens and Raymond are going off the the desert to collect small wild life and put them in their terrarium. I got to say this type of activity isn't interesting me because it's just going after lizards, spiders and other disgusting creatures that should not be touched! Ewwwww!!! O_o But anyway, Prince Sprocket is in the desert with Klank and Orbus (Dammit, I've been getting that name wrong too all this time??? O_o) when he discovers that his new machine can actually make things shrink instead of grow exponentially. When King Mondo arrives and is told this, he gets to idea to shrink the rangers as they will be little more than a nuance at that point. Get it!? :) Uhhh anyway...
Out in the desert, while Raymond is off looking for bugs on the other side, he gives Tommy and Kat the duty to catch some spiders and lizards. As they chase one down, Mondo and Sprocket notice them and put their plan into motion. Sprocket surprises them and sends the Cogs as Mondo orders them to stop them. Sprocket even manages to shrink Tommy's car. Doesn't that suck!!!? The two finally morph when they are surrounded by Cogs. But they are soon captured and shrunk by Sprocket, he puts them in their terrarium while Sprocket looks for other creatures to put in his collection. As Raymond returns to the Youth Center pissed that Tommy and Kat left them, Tanya is surprised they would do something like that and tries to use her communicator to reach them. When that fails, she then contacts Zordon and tells her he alert the other rangers about it. When they head out to the desert and find Tommy's shrunken car, they head back to the Power Chamber.
As Tommy and Katherine try to contact Zordon then escape, Sprocket finds a large tarantula as his new pet to eat the rangers. As Tommy knocks over some rocks to block his path, the others must think fast on how to stop him. Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull are near by looking for gold when they run into Sprocket and run away. Bulk momentarily bumps into the Gold Ranger and he just goes off wondering the hell that was. As tarantula starts to climb over the rumble, the Gold Ranger comes to save them. Sprocket returns and sends some Cogs after him while he puts the rangers down so they can be safe. While the God Ranger is fighting the Cogs, Tanya and others see he needs help and morph. While fighting the Cogs, the Gold Ranger backs off so the other rangers can take it from here. When Sprocket and the Cogs teleport away, they find Kat and Tommy but Tanya still wonders who the Gold Ranger is.
At the Power Chamber, Billy figures out how to make a device that will reverse the effects of the shrinking but doesn't know how it will work on humans. Meanwhile, Mondo gives Sprocket a tarantula monster as a gift that he sends down to destroy Angel Grove. When Billy is finally able to make Kat and Tommy grow back to their normal size, the rangers head back out to face the creature. When the rangers are in trouble, the Gold Ranger arrives again to help. The rangers use the Zeo Power Cannon to defeat the monster but Klank and Orbus just make him grow. The rangers call on their Zeo Zords to form the Zeo Megazord as well as the Red Battlezord but the tarantula monster just captures both of them in net. The Gold Ranger calls on Pyramidas and frees the other zords. He then tells the rangers about a new configuration with his zord: The Zeo Ultrazord; sending them the blue prints for it as they all combine to create one ginormous zord that's even taller than the giant spider monster. They fire all weapons and destroy the monster for good. The episode ends with the teens apologizing to Raymond but he has a gift for them....a tarantula.....poor Kat and Tommy, looks like they might need a shrink! Ok, I'm done, I promise!!! o_o Overall, this was a good episode as it had a fun plot, continues the mystery of the Gold Ranger and had some great action with a new zord formation. Not bad at all!
