Season 4, Episode 18: Inner Spirit

So this begins a run of episodes having to deal with Tommy and bit more with his heritage. Remember the Arrow Head that True of Heart gave him in the past during the Zeo Quest??? Well, now it's time for Tommy to continue his journey to knowing what his half of the Arrow Head means. He continues to have dreams of his Zeo Quest and the Zeo Megazord failing under attack. The next day, the other rangers are worried about him as power surges continue all over Angel Grove. Apparently, King Mondo has unleashes a new monster on to Angel Grove Power Plant called Main Drain. As Main Drain continues to drain all the power from plant, Tommy runs into Sam Trueheart, the old Native American sage from his Zeo Quest. He gives him a ride to the desert; wondering if he remembers him. Soon the Sam disappears but not before telling him some insightful information about the Arrow Head.

Meanwhile, back at the Native American Exihibit, Tommy tells his friends about the mysterious man he met that looks just like Trueheart from his past when the power goes out. Zordon and Alpha soon contact the rangers and tell them the power surge is do to Main Drain. They morph into action and fight the monster until he grows thanks to Klank and Orbis. They summon the Zeo Zords to form the Zeo Megazord and fight the monster but the megazord gets heavily damaged during the battle; leaving the rangers to have to retreat. Back at the Power Chamber, with the Zeo Megazord out of commission, Billy and Zordon reveal a new zord for Tommy to pilot: The Red Battlezord as they knew there would be a time it would be needed. But the only way for it to work is if Tommy is completely focused but with everything going on, Tommy isn't sure but does so anyway.

The Red Battlezord is awesome by the way!!! Equipped with blaster on each wrist and is able to box apparently, punching relentlessly at it's opponent. But before that, Tommy has trouble controlling the zord due to not being able to concentrate. As the Red Battlezord is attacked and fails into a quarry, Main Drain continues to attack until the other four rangers arrive to stop him. They fight as best as they can without their Megazord but Main Drain just tosses them around and blasts them. As Tommy gets the Battlezord out of the rumble and fights off Main Drain, he still can't gain control of the zord...until he remembers the advice Trueheart gave to him and uses it to finally focus. He finally defeats Main Drain!!! Yayy!!! :) Anyway, as Tommy returns to the desert, he runs into a young man on a horse....who is this mysteriously young man??? We'll find out later in my next review. Overall, "Inner Spirit" was pretty good. Looks like we'll get some decent focus on Tommy this time than the stupid Kimberly broke my heart episodes and the introduction of the Red Battlezord was awesome. :)
