Season 5, Episode 12: Alarmed and Dangerous
"Alarmed and Dangerous"
Episode 12
Air Date: May 13th, 1997
Sigh, another misfire, what a surprise!!! I mean I like Justin compared to the movie's portrayal of him so far this season, but the episode centered around him so far have been severely weak. So Justin has to deal with some bullies this episode in Reggie and his friend and there are some good bits about it. The moment he took out the key to his morpher was badass and so realistic in what a kid who's being bullied would do in that situation. But then you have Kat preaching to Justin about using his powers in front of them when he stuck in a tree and almost falls to his death. Shut up Kat!!! -_- Shouldn't you be worrying about your weight problems!!! Jesus, give the kid a break! Oh and to make matter worse when Katherine and Justin have a touching moment in the Power Chamber, Alpha 6 has to ruin it with his lack of a heart. Seriously, what is up with this character and why did the writers decide to make this new Alpha such an @sshole??? -_-
Anyway, Divatox's brilliant plan this episode??? No not a detonator, as that is always her apart of her plan! -_- I'm talking about making the Piranathron set off flase fire alarms across Angel Grove for no reason besides the fact to distract the rangers from getting to her latest detonator. My goodness, even the rangers are becoming numb and irritated to Divatox's terribly repetitive plans as when the alarms keep going off in Angel Grove after Adam makes a comment about it not being Divatox's style, Tanya hilarious responds "She doesn't have a style". Yeah, that's pretty much what Divatox is. A villain with no style, substance or even amusement. God, I hate Carol Hoyt's portrayal of the character. Can't wait until Hilary Shepard Turner returns to the role because what Hoyt and especially the writers are doing with the character is making me cringe on multiple occasions!
Anyway, after Elgar and Rygog plant the detonator onto a fire truck, the rangers finally track it down and head over to it. But the thing goes off and.....turns the fire truck into a monster??? WHAT!? -_- Oh for the love of....the rangers jump onto the thing and ride it until they fall off. They eventually destroy it with their weapons and send Porto, Elgar and Rygog packing to Divatox's irritation. So the firefighters are just fine on the ground???? Since when can detonators change objects into monsters???? *Breathes deep*.....*exhales*...BREATHES DEEP*....EXHALES!!!* Anyway, the episode ends with Justin and Reggie coming to an understanding do to having absent parent issues. It's the only real moment of the episode that feels real and genuine. If only the writing could be more like this, jesus!!! Anyway, "Alarmed and Dangerous" is another very problematic episode that tries to tell another message that kids can relate to but gets lost again in the horrible writing of this season. GAH!!! -_- Is there any hope for Turbo??? O_o
