Season 1, Episode 60: An Oyster Stew

Finally, the 60th and final episode of the season!!! My goodness, for a season with such little plot movement, there was A LOT of filler but we finally made it to the season finale-ish episode, "An Oyster Stew". So what will be the final battle between Rita and our heroes....it's pretty much a battle that leads to the first underwater battle of the megazord.....yeah....how exciting??? O_o So Zack is trying to impress Angela for her birthday as Kimberly notices how bad Bulk and Skull's guitar playing and singing is. Apparently, they have an audition they're preparing for....and might also be tone deaf as well. Tommy and Kimberly try to help Zack figure out what he's gonna get for Angela; he keeps saying pearl earrings while the others say he should do something more sweet and practical but Zack says he'll get her a singing telegram....with pearl earrings. Oh boy, here we go! He even convinces Tommy and Kim to go on a double date with them. Meanwhile Rita gets an idea to use the Oysterizer and it's giant pearl to get Zack into giving Angela the pearls of stillness which will freeze everyone and anything around her; including her!

Zack tries to ask Angela out for her birthday and he does some hard convincing until she caves in and says yes. Meanwhile, Rita puts her Oysterizer spell into motion as Zack tries to hunt down the perfect earrings for Angela. He comes across the shadiest looking man in the world and he convinces Zack to buy some pearl earrings from him. I love how Zack asks if their stolen even if they look like they clearly were. I hope Zack wasn't the type of kid to tell strangers, "I'm not suppose to talk to strangers" yet still continue the conversation and go with them. lol Anyway, Zack pays for the pearls and the shady man turns into a Puttie, all excited and runs away. Zack, Kimberly, Angela and Tommy head to a fancy French restaurant with Zack trying to impress everyone; particularly Angela by ordering for them. Meanwhile, at the park, Jason, Billy and Trini are attacked by some Putties and fend them off. Meanwhile, at the Command Center, Zordon and Alpha figure out what Rita is up to with her latest monster. After Zack orders the food and everyone is unimpressed by the food, Zack surprises her with a singing telegram from....Bulk and Skull, that turns out to suck...hard...what a surprise!!! So after Zack quickly gives her the pearl earrings to Angela's surprised and appreciation. They are about to kiss when Bulk and Skull's incompetence makes a mess; leaving Tommy and Zack to clean up.

Meanwhile, the 3 rangers finish off the Putties in the park and are contacted by Zordon about the pearls. They immediately come to the conclusion it must be Angela's pearls that Zack showed them that must be Rita behind it. They rush to the restaurant and just as Angela puts on the earrings and the others yell at her to stop; everyone becomes frozen as a statue. Zack and Tommy return in disbelief and teleport to the Command Center after contacting Zordon. Turns out it as Zack's fault and now they have to face the Oysterizer to break the spell. Tommy goes with Zack, even with his limited power, as they morph and head to the beach. After splitting up, Zack is attacked by the Oysterizer as he shoots some toxic jelly onto him. Tommy, hearing Zack's cries, saves him from the monster and in a striking visual, gives him his shield temporarily. Cool! :) After Tommy gets attacked himself, Zack knocks the monster back into the sea; seemingly breaking the spell. As everyone returns to normal at the restaurant, Angela is pissed that her pearls begin to dissolve. Zack runs in but Angela doesn't want to hear it. Awww, that little b!tch is STILL inside of her! :) Zack informs the other rangers about what's going on as they morph and head to the ocean to face off against the Oysterizer.

As the megazord arrives underwater to fight the Oysterizer, the rangers notice the giant pearl and destroy it. The Oysterizer, shocked and angry, attacks the megazord, badly defeating it as it can't function properly underwater. Luckily, the rangers contact Tommy as the Dragonzord can fight underwater. After the Dragonzord saves them, he sends the Oysterizer flying to the surface. As the Dragonzord and Oysterizer fight, the megazord is mysteriously no where to be seen. (Were the rangers having trouble getting back up to the surface or something??? O_o Anyway after getting defeated by the Oysterizer, the megazord finally shows up, saves the Dragonzord and both fight the Oysterizer until the megazord finishes it with it's Power Sword. The next day, Zack confronts Angela with some flowers and sings to her with Bulk and Skull backing him up with some music. Angela appologizes for being all materialistic and a b!tch...well, maybe only the first part! :P And Zack does as well leading into another full kiss from the show!!! O_o But then Bulk has to mess it up with his obnoxious singing. God, even in the end those two can't shut up!!! -_-

Overall, this was a decent episode, as a season finale, it was weak and a pretty typical episode. I liked seeing the megazord underwater as it was a cool visual and the Oysterizer was a cool monster in design. But that's about it! Man, this has been such a long season that I can't wait to put all of my thoughts together for an overview of it! :)
