Season 1, Episode 54: Trick Or Treat

This....this is a terrible episode!!! An episode so dire that the only thing I can say good about it is that fight scenes are entertaining; especially with Ron Wasserman's fight music being used often....but boy, does it take a LONG time to get there!! It doesn't help that the plot is heavily focused on Bulk and Skull being apart of it as well as Rita coming up with her dumbest and corniest monster yet: Pumpkin Rapper....I wonder what his special ability is.....URRGGGHHH!!! -_- So Kimberly announces to Trini and Tommy that she will be a contestant on "Trick Or Treat"; apparently the most popular game show in America but I find that HIGHLY unlikely given how easy and dumb the show is!! Tommy can't make it cause he has another karate tournament thing at the Youth Center but Kimberly tells him it's ok and that he should go to his tournament. Awwww how considerate. So it turns out, Skull is Kimberly's competitor on the show and I find that hard to believe as Skull has trouble spelling his own name and tying his shoes; let alone being able to make on a Game show that popular!! URRGGGGHHH!!! -_-

So Rita, spying on the teens as usual (seriously, just kill them...I mean destroy them already on the spot!!! O_o), comes up with an idea to resurrect the Pumpkin Rapper as her minions have already planted the seeds so he can start growing.  Meanwhile, as Tommy heads to the park before his match...for some reason....spots the pumpkins growing there. Rita, spotting him, is pissed and Goldar sends down a squad of Putties to defeat the Green Ranger. As the Putties attack and fight Tommy, the other teens and Bulk are in the studio audience, in their costumes, watching Kimberly and Skull begin to compete for a BRAND NEW CAR!!! :) *Audience applause* Anyway, Skull gives a dumb answer or should I say question that makes him lose a point.....seriously, how did this idiot get on a game show again!!? O_o Anyway, more cutting away to Tommy fighting the Putties, excessive spin kicks and all before cutting back to the show. Kimberly is spun, yadda, yadda, yadda, cuts back to Tommy finishing off the Putties. He contacts Zordon about it. Zordon just tells him to go to the match and he'll contact the other rangers as well as Tommy if the situation escalates. Tommy runs off to his match, more stupid hijinks on "Trick Or Treat" with Skull.

While Tommy is at his match waiting for his turn, the rangers get a call from Zordon about what's happening after the alarms go off. I love how Alpha is just watching the show Kimberly is on instead of I don't know, figuring out what's going on with the rapidly growing pumpkins in the park. Anyway, Kimberly fakes a faint and the rangers carry her off so they can teleport to Zordon at the Command Center. Bulk and Skull rejoice as Skull wins by default. GREAT!!! At the Command Center, Zordon tells them about Pumpkin Rapper and I just can't keep a straight face as he tells them "his raps and rhymes will be clever and confuse them".....really writers?!!? lol The rangers morph and head to where where all the pumpkins are. As they investigate, the pumpkins attach to 4 of the rangers as Kimberly must help them free. She does so as the rest of the pumpkins turn into Putties but with Pumpkins for heads. After beating the Putties, more come along, doing some weird dance in front of a giant pumpkin. The rangers, noticing it, flip over to it (what is this? Xena again??? O_o) They each spit some stupid bars....I mean rhymes before the Pumpkin Rapper wakes up to starting....sigh...rapping and tells the Puttie Pumpkin heads to attack. The rangers fight and beat them before facing off against Pumpkin Rapper. When he has them trapped in some vines and blasts them, Zordon has Alpha contact Tommy for help. Tommy, missing his match, morphs to the other rangers' aid and frees them. He attacks and tells the rangers to prepare their weapons as he holds the monster in place. They form their Power Blaster, haven't seen it used in a while to be honest, and blast Pumpkin Rapper immediately; destroying him.....so freakin' anti-climatic! -_-

The next day Kimberly is bummed about losing the car to Bulk and Skull but Tommy reassures her that she's the real winner. Smooth Tommy! ;) But fear not, the two we caught cheating when Bulk mouthed off a question to Skull. The producer or whatever takes the car back and Bulk's costume gets caught in the car and literally unravels until he bumps into Skull. Hilarious!!! -_- Ehhwww, like I said, I hate this episode. It's just dull, boring and redundant. I hate seeing Bulk and Skull forced into the main plot. They just suck and the "Trick Or Treat" plot was just weak and dragged the episode down. This could very well be the weakest episode of the season. Not saying much but man I couldn't wait until it was over.
