You know, since Tommy was written off the show, the season has been on serious autopilot!!! There's been little to no plot moment, the rangers having been saving the day on a daily basis with little effort and Rita's plans, outside of last episode's evil rangers, haven't been her best! But here comes this two-part episode that sees the rangers ACTUALLY facing their toughest battle since Tommy gave up his powers!!! It's Power Ranger Day in Angel Grove as the teens read the newspaper about the mayor holding an assembly at the park to honor the Earth bound heroes. Meanwhile, Rita is planning on resurrecting  Goldar's ancient zord, Cycolpsis to battle the rangers while she traps the people of Angel Grove in another dimension.

Meanwhile, at the park, everyone is all excited to see the Power Rangers, even Angela's conceited a$$ is eager to met a ranger that even Zack wants to morph as soon as possible to impress her!! I do like for the first time since he left, the teens mention Tommy and hoping he shows up despite not being a ranger anymore. Also Bulk and Skull are there to once again act like idiots and sabotage the ceremony to show off themselves as heroes....right!!! Since when have they cared about being seen as heroes??? I thought they just liked bullying people badly??? So they begin to make fools of themselves on stage making you wonder why this thing doesn't have security or something but ok!!! Rita in the meantime, is performing her spell and summons Cyclopsis as Finster's vortex blast erupts. Soon Bulk and Skull disappear....YESSSSS!!! :) As well as the rest of the crowd at the park.  Shocked and horrified, Jason contacts Zordon as he tells them he knows what going on and everyone comes to conclusion is obviously Rita.

But it get worse, as Rita brings her Moon Palace from the moon to Angel Grove; meaning her power will be increased 10 fold, according to Zordon anyway.  As the city begins to shake, Zordon orders the rangers to immediately morph and summon their zords at Downtown Angel Grove as Goldar enters Cyclopsis and begins terrorizing the city.  They rangers morph and arrive to summon their zords just in time. After the megazord is formed, Cyclopsis pretty gives the rangers a run for their money and beats the crap out of them. Ouch! Jason finally decides to summon Dragonzord to help them but still even with the two powerful zords, Cyclopsis beats the crap out of them.  They then summon Dragonzord In Battle Mode with the Tyrannosaurs there to back them up on autopilot.  But still both zord get wrecked af.  Even the Dragonzord's horn attack doesn't work as Cyclopsis catches it and sends it back at the megazord! That attack has never worked by the way I noticed! lol

Finally the rangers gain the advantage as Titanus comes to their aid and saves them. They form the Ultrazord and fire at Cyclopsis destroying it for good! At least they think so at first. Rita is pissed and uses her wand to trap Titanus underneath the city. As the rangers try to save it, Rita blasts Mega Dragonzord as Titanus sinks away. Rita then does another spell to summon Lokar again, who comes and uses his immense power to resurrect Cyclopsis. Next, we see the rangers....back at the Command Center....ok O_O......where Zordon and Alpha pretty much tell them if they don't defeat Cyclopsis, Lokar and Rita; that the people of Angel Grove will be trapped in the vortex/other dimension....FOREVER!!! DUN, DUN, DUN!!! o_O

Like I said, this episode is extremely plot heavy and thank goodness for that! Part 1 establishes a crisis that gives us the most action for the majority of an episode so far and Cyclopsis itself is an very impressive looking zord. Once of the best designs to come out of Super Sentai.  I like that we finally see the citizens of Angel Grove acknowledging their love and appreciation for the rangers as well as hearing about Tommy. This is the right set up for Part 2 as the rangers' zords are down, they lost Titanus and the whole city's population is at stake!!! A great episode that FINALLY. AGAIN. raises the stakes and moves the plot along for once in a long while!
