Season 2, Episode 5: Putty On The Brain

Ohhhh, so it Putty? O_o Lol Whoops!! Besides me making that mistake in my previous reviews, this is another fun episode that features Lord Zedd coming up with a fairly decent plan of casting a spell on Zack and Billy's science glasses so their fellow rangers look like Putties. It's just entertaining to me watching Zack and Billy freak out when they first see their friends as Putties and the Putties just talking to them in the voices of their friends. This unfortunately leads them to get detention when they try to stop their Putty looking friends from mistakenly attacking Mr. Caplen. Of course, Lord Zedd is joyful because it means it will put the rangers at odds and make them destroy themselves....which I said, is a pretty good plan.

Meanwhile, back at Angel Grove High, Bulk and Skull are recording people's voices to find out who the Power Rangers are when Ms. Applebee asks them to feed her iguana. As the two idiots do, Lord Zedd uses the opportunity to turn the iguana into a monster call Saligauna....half salamander/half iguana.  During class as the rangers are taking a test Billy and Zack keep seeing Putties as Kimberly helps Ms. Applebee past out the tests. Later in detention, Bulk and Skull take Billy and Zack's science glasses and begin seeing them as Putties as well. As Billy and Zack head to the park, figuring out that the Putties they see are actually their friends. Zedd sends down a squad of his Putties to attack them there. As Zack tries to talk to one of them they realize it's an actual Puttie. Zordon and Alpha contact the other rangers as they are both in trouble. When the rangers arrive, we get a hilarious shot of the Putties fighting each other do to Lord Zedd's spell on Billy and Zack.  Billy and Zack eventually join the fight and we get a cool Puttie fight sequence between the rangers and Z-Putties. Man, these Puttie fights have come a long way from the horribly edited, terrible soundtrack of the first half of the first season episodes. Zack, thinking Trini is a Puttie almost kicks him and stop when he realizes it her. The rangers, after the fight, find out what's finally going on with those two and teleport to the Command Center.

There Zordon tells them about Lord Zedd's plan to have them fight each other but they have to now also defeat the Saligauna who's beginning to terrorize the city. But first they must come up with a device to fight against the the intense heat that the monste gives off. Zack volunteers to help Billy do it. Meanwhile, at Billy's house, Trini teleports in to see if morphing with make her still appear as a Puttie, she looks like the Yellow Ranger, meaning they'll be able to tell who's who when morphed. As Saliguana continues it's rampage, Billy finishes the ice gun that will fight against the monster's fiery breath. Trini tells him to not forget the chip and teleports away. Zack and Billy morph. Jason and Kimberly then morph while Tommy stays behind to rejuvenate his powers. During the fight with the Saliguana, the ice gun didn't work, turning out to be the chip that Billy forgot to place in it....GEEZE, GENIUS!!! o_o As the fight continues, the rangers form the Power Blaster and fire at the Saliguana; seemingly destroying it until Zedd throws a bomb at it and makes it grow. The rangers mistakenly call for the Dino Zords instead of the Thunderzords....seriously, how did the sound editor/ADR coordinator miss that!!? O_O Anyway, they summon their zords and form the Mega Thunderzord to fight the Saliguana. Considering this is two separate Sentai series fights being stitch together there will be far worse this season so, not a bad zord fight at all. The Mega Thuderzord finishes off the monster with it's sword finisher.

The next day, Alpha finds a cure for Zack and Billy's Puttie vision and they return to normal. Ms, Applebee's iguana also returns to normal as Bulk and Skull release it onto the class; thinking it will find the Power Rangers....Yeah, right!!! Overall, this was another fun episode!! I liked seeing the rangers as Putties and the fight scenes were good, especially the Puttie fight scene in the park.
