Season 1, Episode 37: Clean-Up Club
"Clean-Up Club"
Episode 37
Air Date: November 23, 1993
Oh brother, here we go with yet another episode of the rangers being so socially conscious when it comes to the environment!!! I mean I understand what the writers are trying to do by sending a message to the young kids watching the show but MY GOD these plots are annoying. In school it must be video/personal cause day or something rather when Trini is asked to show her video. I won't mention Bulk and Skull acting stupid...it's to be expected. Basically Trini's video is about the terrible polluting going on in Angel Grove and after it's done, wants to form a Clean-Up Club to start fixing the problem every week!! Seriously, what is this??? "Captain Planet and the Planeteers"??? We already had an anti-polluting/pro-recycling TV Show in the 90s for kids, Power Rangers!!! -_-
Anyway, up on the moon, Rita gets another plan to inconvenience the rangers being all nice and saving the environment by wanting to send down Polluticorn.....yeah.....I haven't mentioned the stupid pun monster names but yeah, they were already getting forced and weak!!! O_O Back at the Youth Center, the Clean-Up Club assembles while Bulk and Skull continue recording themselves like the pathetic idiots they are!! Anyway, back in the park, the teens start cleaning up, doing some incredibly unnecessary back flips, cart wheels, front flips, etc. to throw away the trash. Yes, cause this type of acrobatics while cleaning makes it all "fun" and "exciting"???! O_o Eventually Rita becomes predictable and sends the Putties down to fight the rangers. Gotta love Jason's "Let's Bag Em!!!" lol
I have to say the Puttie fights are getting better....now if only we had a better soundtrack during these fights....hmmmmmm!!! ;) I gotta say watching Billy fight off some Putties finally was pretty awesome as I'm glad they are showing him to evolve and become a more formidable fighter. Once the Putties disappear, Rita sends down...Polluticorn...and the rangers morph in action! The rangers look like they are getting the advantage until Goldar and Scorpina join the fight. Jason takes on the monster of the week while the other rangers handle the two generals. Jason is pretty much getting his a$$ handed to him until he summons the Dragon Shield with the Dragon Dagger. God, I love seeing Jason with that shield and dagger alongside his Power Sword!!! Just soooo badass!!! :) As Jason destroys his horn, Rita then makes him grow with his wand. The rangers summon their zords and form the megazord....only to get teleported back to the Command Center where Zordon needs to quickly debrief them about the monster being so difficult to defeat and how to stop them. Once debriefed, they more back again, call for their zords and form the megazord to fight Polluticorn once again. I love how the megazord gets tossed around and is suddenly able to fly do to some terribly obvious wirework. Jason summons the Power Sword and the rangers defeat Polluticorn.
Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull have been making absolute fools of themselves all episode as usual and their video turns out to be an indication that these two are clearly dense af. Anyway, to rap this up, it was a decent filler. Can't really say I enjoyed the plot with once again the writers shoving some PSA message down our throats....yuck!!!
