Season 1, Episode 30: The Rockstar

Man, we've finally reached the half point of the season (Yes, 30 more episodes to go my friends in this season!!) Yet, this episode feels as incompetent as the early episodes of the season. Also there are some MAJOR plot holes like where the hell is Tommy during ALL of this??!! O_O  Anyway, the rangers are preparing for a field trip of their own...their destination is unknown but Jason doesn't go because he wants to hangout with his cousin Jeremy, who's in town. Trini is late but gives the rangers some brownies she made in class. Turns out they have snail in them....YIKES!!! As the 4 rangers leave for their trip, Squatt spying on them, tells Rita as her latest plan can commence. She wants to find the Mirror of Destruction that will destroy anyone instantly when they look at it, even the indestructible Super Putties....WOW!! O_O

Jason and Jeremy are walking on the beach and run into....Twiddle Dee and Twiddle Dumb for more stupid scenes of them looking like idiots. I like how Jeremy tells Bulk he's the famous bully Jason told him about. Ummmm....right?? O_o Anyway, Jason teaches Jeremy some fight moves when Putties suddenly attack. Jason tells the stupid kid with the obvious ADR coming out of his mouth to stay back but he helps Jason anyway. Smart! Brains over Brawn my ass kid! -_- They leave and Jason and his cousin just continue their day fishing like nothing happened. Jeremy gets a bottom with a map in it and opens it. It causes an earthquake that even the rangers on the road even feel and Jason just leaves Jeremy to contact Zordon. He senses something in the Morphin' Grid and pretty much tells Jason to keep an eye out for trouble.

Meanwhile, Rita realizes that's the map to the dumb mirror and sends Scorpina after Jason and the kid. At the beach, Scorpina appears with more Putties and Jason tells Jeremy to run away. He finally listens to him and runs off just as Scorpina introduces to monster of the week that forms in front of him....it's a monster made up of rocks and calls himself "Rockstar"......oooyyyy!!! My head!! So Rockstar shots out some rocks and incapacitates Jason for the moment. Zordon and Alpha alert the other rangers and they go off to help Jason. Jason realizes what Scorpina is after and tells the team they need to find his cousin.  While they are looking for him, Jeremy wonders where Jason is and looks at the map. Zordon contacts the rangers to tell them they need to fight Scorpina and Rockstar now....when finding the damn mirror would be WAAAYYY more important but ok. Billy goes off to find Jeremy because he's not in the footage and the rest morph to fight the two.  It's a decent fight, though Rockstar couldn't be more lame looking. Probably my least favorite monster of the week....especially considering how he's defeated.

Anyway, Rockstar hits Trini and Zack with his rocks and they are some how stuck in the pool; calling the other two to help them. Jeremy outsmarts some Putties, continues to follow the map and discovers the location of the mirror...which was just under some rocks!! Wow!! This very powerful mirror was just sitting under some freakin' rocks!! Ugghhh!!! A puttie finds Jeremy and he accidentally uses the mirror and destroys it. During the fight with Scorpina, Jason and Kimberly are rejoined by other 3.....I thought Billy was...how did Zack and Trini....oh whatever!!! The dumb mirror is blowing everything in sight and....sigh....Jeremy accidentally kills Rockstar when he tries to take it from him!! What an idiot!! Worse monster of the week ever. Jeremy, instead of giving the mirror to the ranegrs, just throws it in the ocean. Scorpina and the rangers fight for it but Scorpina manages to get her hands on it.

Rita makes her and the mirror grow as Jeremy watches his heroes summon their zords. Goldar then joins the fight and....god, this zord battle is dumb! Just cause the rangers cover their eyes, the megazord is unaffected by the mirror...THE HELL??? Anyway, they manage to destroy the mirror and the two generals retreat. How bout you try working on your inconsistent voice, Goldar!!! lol Back at the Youth Center, Jeremy is telling the story about how he met the Power Rangers and how cool each individual one was, making everyone want to hear more about what he thinks of Pink, Blue, etc. Jason is about to leave but when he says the Red Ranger was the greatest, he can't help but stay and listen

Outside of that amusing bit, this episode was WEAK. I really hate these kid actors on the show, Rockstar was waste and got wasted by a freakin' kid holding a mirror, Rita's whole plan was sloppy af, etc. One you should probably skip!
