Season 7, Episode 40: Hexuba's Graveyard

Sigh....as I continue to run through this Lost Galaxy arc, it is becoming more apparent the writers are just buying time until the finale.  Hexuba is just a weak villain in so many ways when they could have used her to really push this arc into some dangerous and inventive places.  But in the end, the Lost Galaxy arc is proving to have villains that don't match the season's second phase of villains in Deviot, Villamax and especially Trakeena.  At least with those three antagonists, they represented 3 different aspects of evil: Villamax was the honorable general in the same vein as Ecliptor as he serves Trakeena as a knight would to his queen.  Deviot is a coward but makes up for it by being very devious and persuasive.  Lastly, Trakeena was the meek and weak princess who rose to power and became a very formidable main enemy for the rangers that the season needed.  So far, Captain Mutiny is just a male Divatox, only not as entertaining, Barbarax is just there, Deviot is around but not as much as before and now, we have this focus on Hexuba, this evil sorceress whose spells are rather lame as well as her plans.  This time, she plans to revive the previous monsters that the rangers defeated to destroy them.  It's a plot we've seen in early seasons like MMPR but man, did it get old fast! I mean there is nothing really wrong with reusing this plot, it's just really lame during a season that has shown itself to be more competent than that.  But anyway.....after defeating Freaky Tiki, the rangers begin chasing revived monsters as they land on Terra Venture one after one.

I guess I should talk about the individual fights with specific returning monsters??? Uhhhh, there's Hardtochoke that goes down by the combined strength of the Magna Defender and the rangers' weapons, Treachron returns (remember him???) and Mike takes him out after taking out a squad of Swabies.  How the hell Damon knows Teksa if beyond me but Leo finally takes him out with his Quasar Launcher.  Oh Destruxso returns with a less intimidating voice, Horn, Mutantrum, etc.  Meanwhile, Kai follows where the resurrected monsters are coming from and battles Hexuba until he finally destroys her crystal ball.  Seriously lady, stop with the crystal balls being the source of your plans, they are easy to destroy and ruin those said plans.  Anyway, as Kai heads back to Terra Venture, Hexuba's graveyard is destroyed as well.  As the Magna Defender and the rangers face off against Quakemaker, Kai returns to destroy him for good.  Then...sigh...Hexuba arrives for her revenge as she uses her magic to use the combined power of all the previous monsters to make her more powerful.  The rangers use the Lights of Orion to try to destroy her but she survives the attack.

Leo summons his...sigh...lame battlizer to finisher her off but it only leads to a zord battle where the Galaxy Megazord and Defender Torozord are formed.  Soon when Hexuba knocks down both megazords, the Stratoforce and Centaurus Megazords are called for help as they help to destroy Hexuba.  As the episode concludes, Commander Stanton, along with Kai and Mike, meet with High Councillor Renier to inform her that Terra Venture is rapidly losing power and only has a few days left until all life on the colony is lost!!! Uhhh ohhh!  Anyway, another filler episode overall that doesn't really move the plot along until that last scene unfortunately.
