Season 6, Episode 12: The Great Evilyzer

Hmmmm, this episode is puzzling to me yet also quite interesting.  For a season that delves into the grey area of the good vs. evil concept, it's weird to have an episode that has such basic ideal of what good and evil is.  The evilyzer that Professor Phenonemus creates can apparently turn things from good to evil or vice versa but I find that hard to believe in a season that will deconstruct what it means to be good or evil.  I guess I would have enjoyed the plot more if the evilyzer wasn't an evilyer at all but more a device that could control machines or something more like that rather than Astronema using a device that could make people evil.  As it doesn't quite make sense if she thinks the rangers are good and want to turn them evil when we learn more about why she hates them so much.  Also, why did the Quantron not try to hit Ashley again after he hit her Galaxy Glider???  I don't know, it all seems too weird and bizarre to me.

What I did LOVE about the episode was seeing the Delta Megazord under the control of Astronema.  I always like seeing when the megazords attack each other and this one didn't disappoint.  I mean it's no "Clash of the Megazords" from last season but it got the job done in the entertainment value.  Bu how could the Delta Megazord be turned evil??? It's just a machine unlike the sentient zords we will get in later seasons, so how could it be turned evil.  At one point D.E.C.A. mentions how Ashley's Galaxy Glider was turned evil through ions and turning its properties from positive to negative....wait what??? I just don't get this episode's explanation of good and evil.  What exactly was Judd Lynn thinking when he wrote this episode??? I guess there is a theme present here and a questioning of what makes someone or something good vs what makes someone or something evil but the whole black and white theme of good and evil like I said is strange....am I thinking too deep here about a show with teenage superheroes fighting rubber suited monsters??? O_o

Anyway, once the rangers get control of the Delta Megazord, they follow it into space with the Astro Megaship.  They begin linking up with it to form the Astro Delta Megazord....and the thing is freakin' AWESOME!!!  I love when two megazords combine and the Astro Delta Megazord is NO exception! :) With their new formation, the rangers fly back down to Earth and finish off Astronema's squad of monster now led by Destrutipede.  I like how the rangers work together to figure out where the leader is and use the Flying Power Punch attack to finish all of them off.  Such a cool finisher!!! Welp, with the evilyzer destroyed and the rangers winning another victory, Astronema continues to plan ahead by ordering Ecliptor to search the universe for a monster named Momma Might??? O_o  Anyway, Andros and Ashley go back after her Galaxy Glider and fix it by reversing the effects of the evilyzer.  All and All, "The Great Evilzer" left me feeling very entertained yet VERY frustrated by the plot.  Astronema's plan wasn't that great, probably her weakest so far.  The Evilyzer concept just left be scratching my head most of the time.  Not a bad episode by any means but not great either!
