Season 7, Episode 35: Enter the Lost Galaxy

Well, we've reached the beginning of the final arc of the season! Wonder why this season is called "Lost Galaxy"??? Well, I'm sure the writers weren't too sure when they wrote it! I mean it was partially inspired by Gingaman because the word "Ginga" translates into "Galaxy" which of course helped with the space opera theme being used again for the show.  But no matter how the actual Lost Galaxy arc turned out, it does start off rather promising here.  As two scientists continue to study the Galaxy Book....(so hasn't anybody wondered what happened to Kendrix in the science division??? -_-) Anyway, one of them begins reciting an incantation from the book as it begins to spark and release lightning.....of course he keeps reciting the incantation over even though clearly something bad is about to happen because his curiosity overcompensates for his stupidity as lightning strikes all over the colony which cause power to go significantly down.  Commander Stanton asks for a damage report on the colony before instructing his men to lock up the book!

As maintenance workers check the damage of the colony and Commander Stanton meets with the GSA board, a strange ball of light falls down onto the colony; revealing an ancient looking warrior who transforms himself to look like one of the crew on the space colony.  As he makes his way through the city, he finally arrives to where the Galaxy Book is being protected.  He quickly knocks out the men guarding the book but before he can take it, Kai and a group of soldiers stop him.  As the GSA try to question him, they have no luck; leading Commander Stanton to lock him up.  As Kai and a duo of soldiers lock him up, the stoic warrior finally speaks by saying he is the Guardian of the Book and that he is here to take it back.  Kai is skeptical but when he tells him he knows he's the Blue Ranger and that's it's his destiny to help him, he goes to the other rangers for advice! Of course the other rangers don't trust the Guardian and think it's just a trap set from Trakeena but Kai actually believes he's telling the truth. The next day, Kai goes to the Guardian's cell and sees that the atmosphere is beginning to kill him.  Guardian shows him a vision of the future and tells him everything is going according to what is written while Kai comes up with an idea to help him escape.  As the two escape, Guardian gives Kai a handful of crystals that he tells him will protect him and the other rangers.  Kai goes after the Galaxy Book to finally give it to Guardian in the mountain dome but Deviot is after the book as well and attack Kai.

As the two fight and Deviot gets the best of Kai, Guardian arrives to help and manages to almost defeat Deviot....until the atmosphere begins to severely weaken him again! Deviot uses this as the opportunity to destroy Guardian and steal the book back.  As Guardian dies in Kai's arms, he tells him it's up to him to protect the book now as the other rangers arrive.  But it's too late as Deviot reads from the book; reciting the same incantation over and over like before until the book infuses him with so much power he transforms into a mutated version of himself.  In his new form, Deviot is easily able to defeat the rangers in battle; even able to knock them out of their power up mode when using the Lights of Orion.  Remembering the words of the Guardian, Kai gives each of the rangers a crystal which they use to create more powerful versions of their Quasar Launchers.....because! O_o  After a combined blast from their launchers, Deviot grows as the rangers call on their zords for help.  Eventually, the Zenith Carrierzord arrives to help as well as the Centaurus and Stratoforce Megazords which combine forces to create a powerful tornado attack that goes through Deviot.  The rangers finish him off with the powered up version of the Galaxy Megazord Saber before returning to the Galaxy Book.  After literally blowing them away, the rangers return to the book; recapping the vision that Kai was shown of the future.  As the coloy's skies darken, the rangers run toward one of the tunnels connecting the domes and realize they are in an entire new galaxy aka the lost galaxy as Kai remembers the incantation that Deviot spoke.  All and All, this was a great first episode with good character bits from Kai and some superb action! :)
