Season 7, Episode 34: Turn Up The Volume

After a run of some of the season's best episodes, we return to a back to normal sort of episode for the show.  "Turn Up The Volume" isn't terrible but it isn't great either! What I find annoying about it is the plot really as Karone get Damon to try out to be the Chief Mechanic on the ship.  Of course, he's reluctant but after running into two idiots who are supporting another guy trying out for the position, Baxter, Damon decides to go it.  Meanwhile, Trakeena and her forces are literally getting a headache from her latest monster, Decibat, who can literally create sound waves so loud that they can cause destruction where ever he goes.  She sends him down to attack Terra Venture and the only real moment I like from the rangers' first confrontation with him is the moment Karone gets SOOOOO excited about morphing again! She is just too cute!!! :)  After Damon damages one of the monster's speakers, he retreats but it leads Damon to come up with a design for his tryout for the Chief Mechanic position.  Of course, Baxter overhears Damon telling Karone about it and goes to try to steal the idea for himself.  That night, he sneaks into the area where Damon is working on his blueprints for his idea and takes pictures of them while Damon sleeps. Oh boy!

As Damon wakes up and realizes his late, he rushes to the tryouts and literally bumps into Karone! lol As they head to the competition, Commander Stanton reveals that Baxter already won and used Damon's idea to win it.  When Karone tries to tell Commander the truth, Damon stops her and congratulates Baxter.  Meanwhile, Kegler works on Decibat's speaker to make him even louder than before. As Baxter puts people to work to build Damon's idea, Damon arrives to Baxter's frustration.  Damon tries to tell him his blueprints weren't finished and that using the device could be dangerous but Baxter just tells him off and storms off! Ehhhhh!!! -_- Anyway, Decibat returns and his sound waves are louder than ever as he attacks Terra Venture again! With the city in chaos, Commander Stanton leads Baxter and his team toward the monster to use his device to stop it while the other rangers go after Decibat. Damon, struggling to cover his ears, heads over to stop Baxter from using the device.  While the rangers struggle to defeat Decibat, Baxter and his team use the device to stop the monster and it actually works....until it begins to blow up.  Damon arrives to save Baxter as the machine explodes.  Apparently, the ultra sonic transponder was indeed not finished and when Commander Stanton questions what happened, Damon covers for Baxter and helps him fix it in time to use it again against the monster.

After Baxter thanks Damon, he rejoins the rangers as they summon the Lights of Orion to destroy Decibat with power up mode.  Turns out Baxter resigned and let Commander Stanton know he was the best guy for the job.  But after the Commander shows Damon his new office and how clean his new job will be, he quickly recommends Baxter again as Commander Stanton offers him the job again.  As Baxter accepts, Damon makes a run for it; concluding the episode. Meh!! Wasn't really a fan of this one!!! Mostly filler will some nice character bits from Karone and especially Damon but that's about it!
