Season 19, Episode 7: He Ain't Heavy Metal, He's My Brother
"He Ain't Heavy Metal, He's My Brother"
Episode 7
Air Date: March 31st, 2012
........There's not even any point in reviewing these episodes I'm realizing. I honestly can't believe there is less going on here than the very first season of MMPR! There's not only no story but nothing resembling character development!!! These characters simply....has stuff happen to them while fighting as rangers and that's it. There's no significance. Even the character centered episodes have no purpose with horrendous attempts at trying to flesh out the characters but....there's literally nothing to develop. There's no insight into how the rangers are doing or how certain character traits came to be. Case and point, Mia's brother Terry comes by and instead of being an enlightening showcase of who Mia is, her family, her background and why she's even a terrible cook, it's just some forced conflict with her being made her brother isn't focusing on school and more on his music. I say it is forced because by the end of the episode, the way this crap is resolved! WOW, you writers really didn't care about this show....at least Nickelodeon and Tzachor! O_O These plot development come and go with the most basic of resolutions.
All Terry had to do was tell his sister he is performing with his band for charity....problem solved. Obnoxiously irrelevant conflict averted. Also, the way the writers force Antonio in the story is beyond lazy and makes no sense. Suddenly, he has this talent and passion for music when all we've seen from his is dumb catch phrases such as Fantastico and his obsession with fishing! Anyway, when it comes to actual conflict at hand with the villains, it's literally nothing out of the ordinary as Serrator is out to prove himself once again to Master Xandred. You know Serrator in terms of design and voice acting is so intimidating but as a villain, he is proving to be a disappointment. He can clearly destroy the rangers himself but Mia comes out of no where and makes him look like a fool with Super Samurai mode.....sigh..... Then he summons another one of his Papyrox and some Spitfangs to fight the rangers leading to the rangers having to summon the Samurai Megazord, Bull Megazord and Claw Zord to combine forces to destroy all of them for good....Yay......-_-
Oh and we get that tawdry resolution between Mia and her brother with some saccharine moment of them singing together on stage while everyone is going crazy about their performance. Oh and of course, Spike and Bulk are there as more comic relief aka making fools of themselves with the most tragic rap performance I have EVER witnessed. Just...WHY!??? O_O He Ain't Heavy Metal, He's My Brother is about as useless and lacking purpose as this show can get. Barf!!!
