Season 19, Episode 11: A Sticky Situation
"A Sticky Situation"
Episode 11
Air Date: April 28th, 2011
Hmmmm...maybe I'm just thoroughly entertained by a duo of rangers actually forced to be challenged and develop as characters than the usual boring, terrible, trite, garbage we've been getting so far from the past 2 seasons???? O_o Yeah, that must be it if I'm being this nice to an episode of this show. Mike and Kevin have always been set up as polar opposites with Kevin being the more serious, disciplined orientated member while Mike being the fun, loving stereotype that the green/black ranger usually takes on. So why not have an episode dedicated on two polar opposites being forced to literally work together when a Nighlok named Exporar glues them together; leaving them no choice but to learn how to work as one if they plan to destroy the Nighlok alongside the rangers. I have to admit, putting these two together led to some hilarious bits, of course most of them being slapstick but still showing how stubborn they both are when it comes to synchronizing. But it also shows how much each character admires the other with Kevin admiring Mike's creativity while Mike can't stop commenting on how skilled Kevin is as a fighter. Definitely feels genuine and a bit heartwarming. Dare I say, even the bits with the grocery cart and Kevin having to use the bathroom while they are stuck.
Unfortunately, Exporar goes on a rampage in the city and forces many citizens together, including Spike and Bulk who are stuck together for more comic relief of course. Anyway........soon the other rangers are out of commission when Exporar forces them together leading Mike and Kevin to finally sync up properly and in one of the more inventive Sentai fights, they two do so and manage to defeat him to free themselves and everyone else glued together. Then the episode continues as usual with a multi-megazord battle with the other 4 rangers calling out the Bullzord, Lightzord as well as the Clawzord and Octozord combining for a new formation. All three megazords team up to destroy Exporar once and for all with even Jayden summoning the Shogun mode to use...which I'm starting to wonder what's the point? Is it a power up to the megazord??? O_o
Meanwhile, Dekker and Dayu are just....waiting for Serrator who is planning to use them for his own machinations in dominating the world and all they want is their sword as well as instrument fixed. Uhhhh huh....Serrator is just impressed they have survived for so long as Nighlok hybrids. I guess I should be thankful that this story is moving along but these villains man are really the most mundane, pointless main villains ever! O_O I guess the rest of the episode stands pretty well tho.
