Season 14, Episode 24: The Light

"The Light"
Episode 24
Air Episode: August 7th, 2006(Jetix TV)/August 14th, 2006 (TV)

So after a very eventful two parter of relentless action, shocking revelations (Not really!) and a climatic battle that seemingly gave the good guys a HUGE victory over the villains, "The Light" doesn't stop there as Necroli and enough of the dark forces have survived in the underworld for them to continue their mission to rule the surface world.  Jesus, so Leanbow sacrificed himself for nothing??...especially what we learn much later in the episode too!!! -_- Necroli stumbles upon the Book of Prophecy as it will tell her everything she needs to know about the future while Leelee is apparently sick of being evil and storms off while her mom doesn't even realize she's leaving.  Awwww poor evil teenage girl has feelings??? Wait, what??? O_o Oh and who the hell is Leelee's father is she looks like a human??? o_o Oh and Madison for some reason is having issues with her place on the team all of a sudden which I feel is more like an excuse to make the future Sentai footage have some context but it makes absolutely NO sense.  You didn't just get turned to stone and talk to Jenji, you have saved the world countless times alongside your fellow rangers as well as saved humans from plunging to their deaths and help turn your friends back to normal after being turned into feathers.  Sure she has help, Maddy was the one who gave Bird Lady the final blow that destroyed her and save the day! Ewwwwww!!! I've been following this show better than the writers and I'm honestly anything but impressed so far. O_O If that wasn't dumb enough, Udonna decides to leave to try to find Leanbow....and everyone just let's her go when...ummm....isn't she powerless now.  Now Snow Staff, no magical sorceress powers, she's about a powerful as Leelee is likable and she thinks she'll be able to find her potentially living husband who you last saw banish the Master into oblivion!!??? O_O Make. sense. SHOW!!! Let me guess...she'll be so denseless and almost lose her life but get conveniently captured only to be saved by mandatory plot resolution out of no where??? Mmmm...we'll see! -_-

Meanwhile, back in the underworld, the Book of Prophecy leads Necroli to an even lower level of the underworld (It's underworld! How much lower can you get?? O_o) called the Inner Sanctum where she runs into 10 enormous creatures the size of some the biggest megazords we've ever seen on this show called the Ten Terrors.  Before they can crush Necroli like a bug she feels them in on what's happened in their absence like The Master being put back in the underworld, Imperious' death and something about Nick being "The Light"....oh boy here we go!!!  Shocked and ready to reclaim the surface world and seriously waste no time, as Tobey grows tired of the rangers continuously leaving the shop and Chip show how avoiding the truth by telling Tobey the truth (Lol), the rangers arrive in the city as the Terrors rise up and proclaim they are here to take over the surface world in the name of darkness.  After Daggeron arrive, the rangers quickly morph, summon their Legend Warrior Mode and form the Manticore Megazord to battle them.  But clearly the Terrors on an whole nother level of power as they hit the rangers so hard, they are knocked all the way back to before they morphed....YEAH, I'd lay low for a while too if my new enemies were THAT powerful. YIKES!!! o_o

Back in the woods, as Nick plays with Fire Heart (Seriously, what is the point of barely used and seen CGI dragon anyway??? -_-) Phineas comes out of no where and tells Nick about the Light since....it's him and all.  Apparently, since Leanbow was the greatest warrior and Udonna, one of the most powerful sorceress, that makes Nick the most powerful wizard in existence...why do I get the feeling this sudden shift in the main plot is gonna be more bull than actually having a point??? O_O Not to mention, Nick is suddenly thrusted into this important main character that makes the other rangers' seem not as essential or important to their destinies.  But whatever, this is what the show is going with so let's see where this goes.  Apparently, the ten Terrors can't face the rangers all at once (Just...just...sigh!), so they must consult the stone of selection to choose which of them with go up to the surface and destroy the rangers.  They choose Magma as he quickly gets to work preparing the surface world for the darkness to take over.  As Daggeron arrives in the Solar Streak Megazord, he is seriously outmatched as the Terror just knocks him out of his zord with ease and than shrinks to his level.  The fight continues to go south until the rangers show up but all 6 are far outclassed by him as he leaves them and furthers his plan to take the surface world.  As the rangers bicker and fight over their terrible defeat, Daggeron quickly puts them in line and tells them they need to prepare instead of arguing since this is their greatest challenge yet.  Anyway, after one of the towers in the city burns down, Magma says it's time for the destruction of the city and world.  The rangers (in Legend Warrior Mode) and Solaris Knight arrive to stop him but once again their powers are no matched for him.  Maddy, like I said, gets her big moment to show how essential she's on the team and manages to weaken Magma with a tidal wall attack (since what??? He's a lava creature and water hurts lava/??! O_O)  No explanation, just Maddy's a badass all of a sudden when she was lucky at best.

But the Terror isn't done yet as he challenges the rangers and Daggeron to see if they'll be able to defeat him for another tower burns down.  Apparently, if he wins, he'll destroy the city but if they have even one of them left standing, he loses and gets destroyed.  For some reason they accept as he grows and the rangers summon the Manticore Megazord.  Once again, Magma is too powerful but it doesn't matter as the rangers are left standing and Magma must be destroy since they are playing by his rules. WOW!!! One of the Terrors from the underworld just kills him (destroys whatever!) as apparently this things are honorable! Oh gawd, Koragg is gone and we STILL need to deal with this crap??? If that wasn't bad enough. Tobey hires Leelee of all people to work at his record store since the rangers are always bailing on him.  Oh she'll keep their secret if she keeps theirs...yeah...couldn't they perform a spell and lock her up, I mean, still evil daughter of one of your main enemies??? As far as plot heavy episodes, "The Light" is pretty solid, if not frustrating as Nick is given the new priority over the rest of the team from this sudden "greatest wizard/The Light" non-sense.  Udonna's departure couldn't have come at a worse time (Even if she is useless now) and while the Ten Terrors are introduced as very intimidating, promising new villains, I don't think the writers will be able to sustain the intensity of them as a major new threat for the rangers for long.  Also...The Master is returning??!! WHAT!!?? HOW!!! WHY!!? O_O  Oh this season....!!! -_-

Final Morph: C+
