Season 23, Episode 8: Riches and Rags

"Riches and Rags"
Episode 8
Air Date: March 26th, 2016

Ummmm so when did Ivan become some oblivious, obnoxious, idiotic jerk???!!! O_O  Apparently the same place where Riley became an baseball obsessed harda$$ who cared about nothing but winning a championship!!! -_-  I honestly don't get it! Ivan maybe 800 years old but he has to decency and intelligence to know what a practice dummy is vs. a priceless garb that is 1,000 years old.  OMG!!! I feel like all this was done for some forced comedy moments, especially when the delivery guys and Ivan should have made sense of the delivery being NOT the practice dummy! -_-  And when Ivan ruins it, he keeps making jokes about how worthless it looks and is; expecting Kendall to pay off Mr. Smith, the billionaire who the grab belonged too.  Oh my goodness!!! I just don't get it....although the bit at the Amber Beach Bank where Ivan shows his sword to the teller who calls the cops in return WAS in fact hilarious but outside of that, Ivan just aggravated this episode.  I mean yes, he can be a smug, overconfident bastard but at least he knew when to take things seriously! -_-  Also, no Keeper again to impart some words of wisdom this episode to at least make some kind of lesson apparent here but NOPE! Just like last episode, no advice to Riley about his actions nut something Koda had to quickly tell him for him to snap out of it like he was under a spell but wasn't.  Moving on! -_-

In terms of the monster plot, Wrench uses the reanimator to recreate or rather create Spell Digger, a combination of Spell Binder and Gold Digger when he uses the pendant and coins to bring them back.  Heckyl's plan this time??? Making the people of Amber Beach, namely the rangers in the process, greedy with magical gold coins so they will be vulnerable enough so their energems can be taken.  Yes, making the rangers greedy with make them give you their energems....wait what!?!?? O_o  What are these recent plans by the villains because they don't make much sense in terms of....you know....making sense! At least when Heckyl was undercover, working at the restaurant and a friend of the rangers, it made perfect sense to steal the energems from within by gaining their trust through deception but now....it's like he's already running out of ideas.  See, that is why they shouldn't have wrapped that up so quickly because now it just leaves Heckyl sending monsters after the rangers like any other villains we've seen.  Meh!

Anyway, Tyler and Chase get under the spell of the coins and act like greedy idiots but it's more for comic relief than actually being a plot point that leaves the rangers vulnerable so sucky plan! -_-  Also, Fury just goes after Ivan when Chase and Tyler were so vulnerable!??? 0_O  Sure he tells Heckyl the reason why, but he could have avoid Ivan for the sec of getting their energems in exchange for more gold! Seriously, why wasn't THAT the plan all along! Make the rangers greedy and have Heckyl manipulate them to exchange their energems for wealth!??? Oh boy! Smdh....  Oh and of course, Prince Phillip comes in to save the day when he brings a check of over $2 million thanks to Ivan's gold bar from 800 years ago apparently gaining enough interest since to accumulate enough money to pay off Mr. Smith.  So why exactly didn't the rangers think of Prince Phillip before to resolve this?!! -_-  I just don't understand this episode....especially the forced comedy of Ivan being afraid of Mr. Smith's assistant with the cat like nails!!! "Riches and Rags" feels so out of place and random! I didn't enjoy it at all, even tho we did get a bit of plot movement on Singe working for or with someone else. :(
