Season 22, Episode 13: Sync or Swim
"Sync or Swim"
Episode 13

Ahhhhhh nothing like a bit ole ranger rivalry to get things going in an episode once and while....right??? But unlike say "Rival Rangers" where Cassie and Ashley are competing for the affection of a cute school boy, Tyler finds himself at odds with Ivan in terms of the spotlight.....tho Tyler was never one to be so self absorbed and wanting the spotlight so I find it a bit troubling in terms of his characterization. I suppose the fact that Shelby thought his coat looked far better on Ivan than him would set him off giving his growing affection for her. But seriously, Ivan's modern outfit looked wonderful, especially the medieval coat on him. What the hell was Tyler thinking?!!! LOL Also, I have to admit, while it was a bit out of character for Tyler, his competing with Ivan does make for some hilarious moments, like Tyler forcing people to walk over his coat or Ivan basking in the multiple photos of people taking of him while he rides in front of museum in shinning armor while Tyler looks disgusted by how everyone else is so impressed. lol Also, I like it when the rangers have usual disagreements or aren't getting along on the team due to personality clashing instead of say a spell, tho "Best Man for the Job" is a rare exception! It's nice that the two even managed to resolve the issue themselves without some Power Rangers scene about "getting along" and "Friendship" instead it's handled in a more realistic, hilariously with them putting aside their differences for the sake of the team, even tho Ivan still knows he is painfully the whole package! Dear God, I LOVE Ivan! So charismatic yet so in love with himself. Kinda like a doucher version of Zhane.
On the villain side of things, Sledge orders Wrench and a new monster, Smokescreen, to plant a bomb in Tyler's car to destroy the rangers as well as getting their energems afterwards. Of course, it would help if Smokescreen's fog didn't smell like one of the worst cases of gas ever! Seriously, there's even a moment where Wrench says to Smokescreen "I'll tell you when to fart" to which Smokescreen says "You're not the leader! I am. I'll fart when I want!" Dear Lord, I have no words and am automatically filled with immature giggling. LMAO! Anyway, when the rangers so discover that the bomb is in the car, they rush over to stop it while Tyler faces off against a giant Smokescreen in the Dino Charge Megazord. Luckily, Ivan stayed behind to help as both of them join forces to form the Dino Charge Megazord Tri-Stego-Ptera Formation....which has got to be the longest title for megazord yet! O_O Seriously, it's a mouthful with all these different formation's already but this one definitely feels a bit too lengthy and wordy. O_o Either way, Tyler and Ivan manage to use the new megazord formation to destroy Smokescreen but when the other rangers try to disarm the bomb, Sledge cleverly makes it grow so the rangers can't and now it's big enough to blow up the city as well. Gotta love the villains thinking fast and making things worse for the villains! Already so beyond the villains of the last two seasons that were all talked and died just as easily as they did absolutely nothing significant. -_-
Anyway, Tyler and Ivan once again form a quick plan by grabbing the bomb seconds before it explodes and flying into space toward Sledge's ship. This is sooooo awesome and priceless! HA! I love it how the ship barely survives the attack by managing to shoot it before it hit, but Sledge still goes on rant about how worthless Wrench is because of how much he failed. HA! Even the ending with Tyler and Ivan now treating each other so well, not to mention dissing Shelby to give Ivan a gift is once again too hilarious. God, I love these characters. Another standout episode and very entertaining in terms of story as well as both actors working opposite each other being all competitive. :)
Final Morph: B+
