Season 22, Episode 19: Wishing For a Hero

"Wishing For A Hero"
Episode 19
Air Date: November 28th, 2015

I LOVE when an episode can be very progressive in terms of plot by moving the story forward and being entertaining as hell like this one while also introducing a very promising, even sinister new villain! I have to say I instantly LOVED Heckyl and it's all in the presentation as well as enjoyable campy performance from Ryan Carter as the character. :)  He kind of reminds me of a superpowered Joker in how everyone fears him, his reputation of destroying galaxies immediately getting your attention in scope of how powerful he is and finally the reveal of Heckyl himself.  He's so charismatic, slimy yet manipulating while also turning the tide of Sledge's proposal so quickly by destroying his guards and almost releasing all the prisoners with his powers.  Seriously, I just can't wait to see more of him, especially when the only way Sledge was able to imprison him again was that the villains finally had a major victory over the rangers by Fury getting his hands on the purple energem.  Even if Supercharge may have gone down in quality in comparison, I remember Heckyl still being one of the high points so.....:)

As for the plot at hand, I really enjoy the rangers staging a repeated accident just so they can find someone to bond with the energem.  The rangers have been so proactive and making plans to benefit themselves in the side of the right by always actively looking for energems, the zords that the energems created and now they actively looking for a new ranger.  It's both hilarious and smart, especially seeing how self involved people are after saving Kendall....I mean Ms. Morgan! 0_0 lol  Also, Wishstar made for a cool villain who was able to grant wishes that come true but go very bad soon after.  Watching each ranger make their wish and seeing the consequences of them was both funny and suspenseful from Chase's skatepark date to Sir Ivan saving a damsel in distress. Also, Shelby wishing for a date with Tyler....Oooooooooo!!!! ;)  I also loved how Tyler's father was also teased again as he wished to see him.  I loved the intensity of that sequence with him chasing after his dad only for him to turn out to be a red heiring so Wishstar could attack him alone as the consequence of the wish.  Every really tied together in terms of stories as even Heckyl bumping into Ms. Morgan, setting up his interaction with the rangers was well done.

After another quick megazord battle to defeat Wishstar, there's no time for the rangers, Ms. Morgan and Keeper.....who's kind just becoming around REALLY fast! O_o to wait for Sledge to attack again as he now has the purple energem thanks to Kendall's wish; meaning his next attack or weapon could potentially defeat them.  How awesome of a cliffhanger is it tho that Riley tells the team the only logical thing to do is not wait for Sledge but take the fight to him.....or his own ship rather! DUN, DUN, DUN!!! Leading into the Season 1 finale almost perfectly. Wishing For a Hero manages to do a lot by setting up the stakes higher than they have ever been just in time for season's end as well as introducing a mysteriously thrilling new villain who seems more than a match for even both sides while also making you laugh hysterically at something as juvenile as Koda getting a severe stomach ache due to his wish for a burger! lol  Bring on the finale! :)

Final Morph: A+
