Season 21, Episode 7: Silver Lining, Part 1
"Silver Lining, Part 1"
Episode 7
Air Date: March 5, 2014
Well, at least with this two parter it seems, the writers are actually (or at least hopefully! o_o) planning to tell a decent story as the 6th ranger of Super Megaforce has finally arrived! So.....this episode wasn't bad in establishing the newest member of the team as the mystery of the elusive Silver Ranger was built up throughout the episode even if the usual nagging writing habits of this show can be withstood! -_- So Gosei can sense something landing in Earth's atmosphere but can't sense or realize it's a silver ranger with the exact same power source as the current rangers??? O_o So they had no idea that a 6th ranger key existed?!!! Funny how it will be Orion himself (Tho his name isn't said in Part 1) will have to explain all this when the rangers' mentor and side kick remain useless....well until the rangers need a new weapon, weapon or ally! -_- Luckily, Silver Lining, Part 1 is scarce of that horrendous continuity nightmare as the rangers actually have to think for themselves this episode (An extremely rare occasion! I know! O_O) to find out a way on how to actually defeat the monster of the day since he has an indestructible forcefield that makes him very difficult to fight. Gorgax is actually a decent villain who not only is more than a match for the rangers but Prince Vekar even proves to be more than just the most pathetic villain of the franchise yet but coming up with a plan to destroy the rangers for good while using his own monster to get destroyed with them. Not bad....and he actually would have succeeded if not for Orion coming out of nowhere as he did all episode to stop the rangers by making a HUGE mistake! O_O
Like I said, the mystery behind the Silver Ranger was well done as it gave the rangers something to solve while also trying to defeat their usual threat from the armada. Tho I feel like the way Orion lands in the city (Still with absolutely NO official name! -_-), that he's just wandering around without the rangers noticing something off about him and how the HELL did he get a job working for Ernie so quickly!??? O_o Of even at all when he has no record of existence, let alone employment on Earth but.....sigh......whatever! -_- But like I said, it was nice to see a mystery on the show for once that wasn't so easily solved by the rangers getting a new zord or powerup for absolutely no reason besides NOT GIVING UP! -_- They actually realized they had to come up with a plan to get past Gorgax's forcefield and even work as a team to even make the plan almost work but thanks to Orion, he manages to stop them before he gets destroyed. :)
As for the Silver Ranger suit, I'd say it's actually the nicest of the already amazing Gokaiger suits! WOW! I love the silver and black design as it has a nice flare to it that a 6th ranger suit needs to stand apart from the rest of the team. Tho I don't get the whole Trident as a weapon but it definitely is something....new. So Orion manages to destroy all the X-Borgs and sent Gorgox packing to the afterlife. He soon reveals himself to the rangers and boy is that hair HIDEOUS!! O_O Overall, a pretty good start to a two parter that seems to be wanting to be competent for once! Thank God! Can Part 2 continue the trend??? Let's see.....o_o
