Season 21, Episode 15: All Hail Prince Vekar

"All Hail Prince Vekar"
Episode 15
Air Date: October 18th, 2014

Well, this episode was pretty refreshing....well, until the last few minutes of the final battle between the rangers and Vekar when for the 1000th time, the rangers are awarded a new megazord formation because of perseverance and what not!!! Ehhhh I just give up! No more complaining about this repetitive garbage! I'll just get to what I thoroughly enjoyed about the episode for most of it and that actual stakes.  Immediately, the episode sets up the rangers' toughest fight yet as Vekar is given a gift by his father's royal guard who arrive on the armada with a new megazord for the Prince to pilot.  I love how the episode goes to reveal some inner turmoil within Vekar as his father the Emperor, favored Vrak over him because of Vekar's incompetence.  It finally makes Vekar's character make more sense, especially in this episode when he wants to desperately win over his father's favoritism by destroying the rangers with the Armada Megazord.  I gotta say, the megazord looks awesome and it like how it is similar in design to Vekar's look.  I actually do really enjoy Vekar's design and thinks he's one of the best monster Sentai creations.....it's just unfortunate his character is such a moronic waste here on PR. :(

Meanwhile, the rangers are given a day off like many teams before them by Gosei......even tho they haven't really accomplished much of anything to warrant such a reward but whatever!!! -_-  As day offs go, it's immediately interrupted by the rangers' enemies, this time in the form of Argus leading an attack with a squad of X-Borgs.  We get an intense battle between the rangers and Argus which leads to Noah and Argus in particular getting into a one on one match that is equally intense.  Soon Vekar arrives with the armada megazord and the rangers summon their zords in response to it but the armada megazord proves to be too much for the rangers; leaving them to retreat but unfortunately during the massive fight, Troy is caught in crossfire of the megazord being blasted away while the other rangers are ejected from it to survive.  It's a very serious moment that the villains seemed to have temporarily won as the rest of the team are pushed to their limits to fight back from their first big defeat.  What happens next is another ferocious fight scene between Noah and Argus which is not only thoroughly entertaining but ends in Argus' shocking demise as Noah proves himself to be quite a badass when the rest of the team needs him and Troy's fate is temporarily unknown.  Of course, with Argus down and out, he angrily returns with the armada megazord and the rangers regroup; with Troy finally revealing he's ok and survived!  All for dramatic effect of course! :P

So the rangers engage in one last battle between Vekar in his megazord vs. theirs but once again it seems even the rangers' many formations and zord add ons like the Turbo Falcon and the Mystic spell seal from Mystic Force can't seem to stop him.  Once again, just when the rangers are being challenged and have to truly fight to persevere from a hard battle....here comes the damn Tiki Head with the rangers being rewarded with a new megazord formation aka the Ultimate Legendary Megazord.  Seriously, Legendary Ultrazord would have been badass but once again, the writers choose the dumbest names for these megazord formations.  EHHWWW!!! Anyway, with their newly rewarded megazord formation they destroy the armada megazord and seemingly Vekar with it.  Can't say I'll miss him! Just when it seems like he had a plausible backstory and personal stakes in his battle against the rangers, he's killed off! Oh well, we'll always remember his pathetic persona and annoying ranting, even if some of his lines were actually hilarious.  Also that shot of Damarius holding his lifeless body in the wreckage of the armada megazord while swearing vengeance on the rangers was pretty chilling cliffhanger, especially when the rangers are overjoyed by their victory of destroying the armada's leader.  Overall, it has its usual faults as Super Megaturd does but at least the episode kept the stakes high and the story entertaining until once again, it seems all for nothing because "Rangers! Here's more stuff!" :) *Wonders if I can choke a tiki head on a wall*
