Season 24, Episode 15: The Royal Rumble
"The Royal Rumble"
Episode 15

Oh, so THAT'S why Viera's armor looked like something out of an action figure play set! O_O It's a new battlizer for Brody! Certainly makes me forgive the hideousness of it (Only a bit! :P) now that I know it had a purpose in pushing the story forward. :) I like the added armor on the Red Ranger suit, it works well and looks far more impressive and well designed than even Tyler's T-Rex Supercharge mode from last season. it looks great in action and I like how it ties into introducing yet another megazord in the rangers' arsenal: The Lion Fire Zord. Apparently with Lion Fire ship shot down, Viera is unable to repair and immediately goes to the rangers for help. I love how they are ready to fight her as soon as she reveals herself but are so thankful for her helping them in a matter of seconds when she needs their help again. LOL It also turns out we have some suprising backstory for Mick as he reveals when he doesn't trust Princess Viera do to her family imprisoning him as well as various other people from the Lion galaxy by selling them into slavery aka serving on Galvanax. I like how it develops Mick a bit by giving us some idea of his past as well as what led him into ending up meeting Brody on Galvanax's ship. Doesn't feel too convenient and I love there's an emotional pay off at the end where Viera allows Mick to speak with his family after not seeing them for 20 years. You know, if there is one thing about Ninja Steel that I'm thoroughly enjoying is how intense yet genuinely heartwarming the show gets when it comes to family scenes like this. First Brody and Levi, now this, all really well acted and lots of resonance that is unexpected but thankfully present. :)
As for the main plot with Drillion, it's about as average as it comes, even with Odius giving him some ridiculous upgrade that would make him more powerful. Seems like it only there because of Sentai footage and a display of Brody's new battlizer as well as the Lion Fire Megazord so they can finally destroy Drillion once and for all. It's a shame too, Ripcon was such a disposable general and after Drillion's debut last episode, it would have been great for him to stick around and actually get a general who was worth our time this season but nope. I guess Madame Odius will have to continue to do...... There's also more of Victor and Monty.........completely cartoonish meandering during the episode having to do with Viera's gravity defying crystal that her ship used but was broken. Since the two moronic duo find a piece and realize they can use it to their advantage....well, Victor using it to his advantage as Monty just follows him like he is a Greek God or something. -_- How these two haven't been at least expelled from school and continue to get away with this nonsense is getting infuriating!!!! Enough already and that last scene of them falling to the ground! The poor special effects being used to make these two survive such lunacy and everyone thinking it's so funny.....AHHHHHH!!!
As the second half to a two parter, "The Royal Rumble" was typical Power Rangers with some interesting story bits with Mick and some entertaining action as usual when introducing a new battlizer or megazord.....or both in this case. It moves the story forward and sets up Princess Viera as a new ally for the rangers even as she heads back to her home galaxy to begin changing her rule by implementing what she learned from her new multi-colored hero friends. Awwwwwwww! :P
