Season 7, Episode 3: Fierce

"Fierce"
Episode 3
Air Date: October 11th, 2007

Ewwww, we're already hitting filler territory and honestly, this has got to be the most filler episode since last season's Subterranean.  Honestly, I feel like the show has seriously outgrown the whole meteor freak of the week plots.  I mean back during the high school years it made more sense with most of the cast being in high school and Clark being this young naive hero who had to stop baddies powered by the very weakness of his people on Earth.  But come on, Clark has face far greater threats since those days!  The disciples of Zod, Zod himself, multiple Phantom Zone prisoners, not to mention super soldiers powered by the dead corpse of one of those escaped Phantoms.  Seeing these meteor freak stories every episode now, during the show's 7th season, feels like major step backwards and not much of a threat at all.  Especially now that Smallville has not one, but two superpowered aliens from a galaxy far far away.  We barely have meteor freaks who are able to handle Clark singlehandedly anymore considering how his powers have matured, not to mention gaining more since the first season. So a bunch of.....stuck up model/thieves with powers to control certain elements feels.....like something from those days of the show when we should be facing more legitimate threats, especially now with Clark and Kara having to both save the day when one of them can save the day before dinner's ready.

I mean even the conclusion needed one of them to be weakened by kryptonite (Clark) so the other one could save them (Kara).  And Kara just tosses and kicks both girls without any trouble at all; making the story feel dumb and pointless if it was THAT easy to stop them.  Why even make them a threat??? -_- And my god, I know there in Smallville, but it baffles me how convenient kryptonite is whenever Clark has to face off with an enemy.  It's going to get even more absurd and laughable the next few seasons when all of sudden, the characters are more in Metropolis than Smallville, yet kryptonite seems to be there in abundance too.  BAH!!!  I guess I should find some humor in the lighthearted comedy of the episode??? It is reminiscent of the early years, with the town being all colorful and celebratory of a annual festival that houses the Miss Sweet Corn competition.  Kara wanting to eagerly fit in but needing to be taught how to blend in with humans, Clark becomes her mentor like his parents were to him when he was her age and needed to learn how to use her powers.  It does lead to some genuinely comical scenes like Kara blowing up the watermelon when Clark is training her on how to use her powers and Kara in her bikini practicing her walk while Lana is at a lost for words at the young hot girl living with Clark now.

Speaking of the center of the world, Lana returns to Smallville and of course, goes to Clark who is all lovey dovey and overjoyed she's back.  While it's nice to have Lana in the know now and actually having open conversations with Clark about his powers, Kara and Krypton, I feel I would have rather her return as an ally then once again being Clark's love interest in a relationship for a THIRD. TIME!!! Yes, things are different now that she knows his secret and she's not married to Lex but the fire died between them by Season 3 and this is like watching two people trying to create a fire with broken matches at this point.  Clark is already so love stricken he isn't thinking clearly and Lana clearly isn't in the best position to be jumping into a relationship again given her anger and resentment toward Lex who she has apparently stolen 10 million dollars from.  This girl is clearly plotting and it's only gonna end badly when they we all know they are aren't meant for each other.  Just stop dragging this out! -_-

Oh and apparently there's some old Kryptonian treasure on Earth that Clark and Kara discover....because we need more set up even tho that crystal needs to be found right???  Not to mention, I'm with Clark, how many freakin' kryptonians have been to Earth??? Making Clark being there not so special when we'll learn in even a couple more episodes that the entire House of El has been in Smallville too sans Kara's mother.  *GROAN*  Oh, Jimmy's back and for some reason the writers are setting up an attraction between him and Kara already.  Isn't she suppose to be like 16 and he's like early 20s??? See why not make Jimmy a freshman at Smallville High and have Kara start going to school there aka they both meet, blah, blah, blah.  Oh whatever! -_-  It just sucks for Chloe since not only is his boyfriend hot for Clark's super cousin but now Jimmy hates meteor freaks with a passion just as Chloe clearly can't handle the fact that she is one.  Poor girl! Her editor is an a$$hole and now Jimmy may dumb her over her power or for Kara???  Jesus writers! But honestly, I more over this Lex redemption storyline that seems to dwelling on his obsession with Kara saving him.  It's funny how he can't get over his mysterious savior and that's what drives him to know more aka delve deep until he can't take back the evil he's done.  I just hope it goes somewhere.....it won't! -_-
