Season 7, Episode 17: Sleeper
"Sleeper"
Episode 17
Air Date: April 24th, 2008
I swear.....I just don't get this show and how it use to contradict itself, especially when it came to our main soon to be legendary Superman!!! -_- Descent was superb and not only cemented Lex's downfall as a purely maniacal villain but also showed that the epic rivarly from the comics we've known and loved about these two had officially begun. But instead of following through on that, Clark literally dismisses stopping Lex from getting that weapon that can control him and rather sit over Lana and watch her as well as forcing Chloe to have into super secret government databases just find a good enough satillette image of where Kara and Brainiac flew off too. .......Now wonder the showrunners left after this season, it seems they are purposefully making Clark into Lana's loversick sack of horribly idiotic prorities when literally the fate of the world is at stake. Even Chloe has to remind Clark that ummmmm saving Lana is pointless if Lex figures out how to control him and use him as a force the world will have no hope of defending itself against. Poor Tom!! Even years later after the show ended has vocally made it clear that he wished Clark wasn't so dumb and I can't help but agree profoundly after rewatching this show so far. It's like they WANTED the show to jump the shark. I mean the writing has become too slef aware of how dumb and lost Clark is at this point, making his problems worse all the time and having to constantly clean up the apocalyptic messes he unleashes. Our Superman everyone! Well, not yet anyway which is the point but whatever! -_-
So Clark is mostly absent from this episode cause Tom was preparing to direct the next episode so Sleeper focuses mostly on Chloe and Jimmy who are being targeted by Domestic Security because of Chloe's not too legal hacking of the government's software aka making them believe she might be a dangerous terrorist. No now, I'm all for a filler episode as long as it can be entertaining and fun but Sleeper has too much fun to the point where you can't even take this stuff seriously at all. Suddenly, we're in a Bond movie where Jimmy of all people can hack into computers like Chloe all of sudden, quickly master being a spy by knocking out various people with tasers/knockout gas, can switch between outfits in stylish Mission Impossible swagger while also being able to take on a major agent of Domestic Security and knock her out to save Chloe when she goes all Bond villain his girl??? I just......I don't get this show sometimes, especially clashing with the sub-plot of Kara apparently sending messages to Clark through Swan's book. Yeah, for some reason, a new message has appeared in Swan's journal: "Save Lana At Fortress." Oh come on! They're obsessed with Lana on Krypton too now??!!! -_- *empties round of bullets*
Actually, it's because Chloe and Clark find out that Kara is in the past with Brainiac on Krypton. Tho when Clark goes to asks Jor-El for help, he accuses him of doing something to her when she voluntarily flew off with Brainiac but Clark isn't dumb enough apparently, so lets make him more LESS SENSE! :) *My ears bleed* Yeah, so Kara and Brainiac are on Krypton in 1986, NOT 1989 as Kara's bracelet can help him time travel apparently to when the planet was about to blow up to stop Clark's ship from launching so he can kill him. GASP!!! ..........I bet $10 he'll give up going back in the first two minutes, blame himself, mention Lana BECAUSE and wish he'd never existed! :P Cause that's this show in a nutshell at this point. Seems Descent was an unfortunate fluke for this season??? Sigh.....:(
Final Kryptonite: D
