Season 7, Episode 12: Fracture

"Fracture"
Episode 12
Air Date: February 14th, 2008

......Oh yeah, Kara!!! O_o  WOW! Poor Laura! Givin' the chance to play a fully fleshed out Supergirl for the first time on a TV series and being shafted for various episodes because the writers clearly have no idea what to do with her.  She literally has no point to the show besides what the writers come up with for an episode and two then make her absent for the next few episodes having two superpowered Kryptonians on a weekly show makes conflict in Smaillville extremely lacking! O_o Sigh....no worries, 8 years from this season, we'll get a decent, developed version of Supergirl on her very own series, trust me! ;)  Meanwhile, Lois and Lex are tracking her down in Detroit after finding her location when she's been kidnapped by some crazed busyboy from that diner she works at now.  I just find it completely hilarious Lex is shot point black range in the head yet some how manages to survive being moved from Detroit to Smallville hospital.  Why not just send him to a hospital in Detroit??? Not to mention, Lex should be dead and NOT just unconscious! O_O  Jesus, I know the writers teased him surviving death various times by Season 3 but that was more plausible instead of being shot in the head and just being forced into a coma.  Lex is still human from what we know without any obvious powers so what the hell Smallville??? Let's just throw logic completely out the door this season, even if this is a fictional show about a farm boy from a planet covered in ice and crystals! -_-

Anyway, Lionel apparently has some high tech technology that will allow Clark to go into Lex's mind, since he's the only one who knows where Lois and Kara are.  Yeah, this is sounding all too familiar again.  This time, 2000's psychological thriller The Cell with Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Lopez with the whole concept of entering the human mind to find specific information to find someone before they are killed.  Hey we've seen more obvious rip-offs from this show so I'll give this one a very annoyed but harmless pass.  Honestly, Clark journeying through Lex's mind is the only interesting thing about this episode with Lex's mind forming the construction of dark, abandoned building that seems endless and terrifying where his good side is the form of his young self, Alexander while his dark side is a menacing psychopath in all white who first tries to scare Clark out of his mind before taking him on a tour of his psyche to torture Clark in ways that are honestly depraved, even demented.  My favorite part has to be when he shows Clark the night he and Lana....ummm.....made sweet love for the first time.  Seriously, Lex holding Clark's head so he doesn't miss every moment by looking away is the type of Lex Luthor villainy that Michael has excelled at beyond any other Lex Luthor actor. Ha! And Clark is STILL gonna date the girl after that visual of her telling yet another one of his future villains "I love you".  BAH!!!!

Luckily, little Alexander manages to help Clark escape from Lex the Mind Torturer to lead him to the various memories of Lex finding Kara and visiting her frequently in Detroit after finding her.  He apparently found her and discovered her amnesia; hoping to bring her back to Smallville and help her treat it when her co-worker, the crazed busboy decided to kidnap her just as Lois runs into Lex at the diner; on his trail for a story for the Planet.  But unfortunately, things go south immediately when Lex is starting to die from brain damage (oh NOW he's dying from his fatal wound?! -_-) , which will kill both him and Clark.  Chloe manages to see what's going on to convince Lionel she can save both of them with her power as she heals Lex and makes Clark able to continue to journey through Lex's mind to save little Alexander when he captures him.  Oh Clark, you're wasting you time! He's a mental image of a Lex that's barely there anymore and you're STILL trying to save him.....that's really dead and adds so much to their relationship tho. :( Awwww little Alexander is now all alone again as Clark leaves but tells him to keep fighting. Clark wakes up, superspeeds to Detroit to save Lois and Kara in time, YAY! :)  .........Seriously, that whole storyline was boring and so irrelevant! Could have found a much better story to set up the whole mind jumping but whatever.  Now Lex is being all nice and creepy to Kara, who of course, immediately trusts him and wants to stay with him at the mansion.  You idiot! But then again, Kara wasn't that bright to begin with! :P  But it's kind of heartwarming to see Clark still holding out hope for Lex after seeing that his good side is still there.  It will prove hopeless but that scene between him and Clark at the mansion really does make you reflect on how far gone their friendship has been sadly but necessary for the show's progression. :(  There's also some more plot movement with Chloe's power being too dangerous but it will prove irrelevant despite dying in return consequence of her power which is seriously just DUMB. -_-  Fracture is in fact a fractured episode! The only good parts are Clark going deep into the mind of one of the best iterations of Lex Luthor yet! The whole psycho co-worker kidnapping Lois and Lana is so superfluous to the story why even bother.  Not to mention, point black shot to the forehead but still manages to be alive even before Lex was Touched by a Sulllivan! -_- Also, Lex's wound wasn't even a fracture, it was fatal gunshot to the head! The hell! o_o
