Season 7, Episode 1: Bizarro

"Bizarro"
Episode 1
Air Date: September 27th, 2007

Yet another season of Smallvile and it's one that hasn't exactly gotten the best criticism!!! -_- Yes, we have finally arrived at the infamous 7th season of the series but it's still Smallville none the less; not to mention a season premiere episode! So despite my reservations about re-watching this season again, Bizarro does a lot right here as Smallville premieres tend to do by wrapping up the cliffhangers of last season's finale while setting up future storylines for this season.  We pick up things literally right where we left off as Lois and unconscious Chloe are trapped in Reeves Dam as it finally completely demolishes and sends Lex, who's just been arrested, hurling underwater in a cop car as the rest of the duties run out of the way of the tidal wave!  Meanwhile, Clark rises from being knocked across the town by the Phantom who has replicated his body and clearly by the title of the episode, it's more than clear who this iconic Superman villain is! :)  After Bizarro lands in front of Clark, he swing kicks him away even after Clark announces how he has to save the people at the dam.  Bizarro is smug and immediately tells Clark he has all his memories as well as plans to live his life in his place after killing him.  But Clark is able to block his punch and send him flying across Smallville into some electrical tower thanks to the sun shinning on him and distorting Bizarro's face.  But enough of that now as that tidal wave is moving fast throughout Smallville and is about to drown a father and son in its path before Clark superspeeds out of nowhere to use his heat vision to evaporate the enormous onslaught of flooding.  I love the little Superman nod he gives to the kid before superspeeding away....but considering he just evaporated all that so quick with intense heat, that area just humid as all hell with thunderstorm popping up but let's just throw science out of the door for a awesome SFX sequence.

Back underneath the water of the dam, Lex is trapped and is clearly about to drown to death....before seeing a beautiful image of an angelic girl floating near the surface; surrounded by white light before he passes out.  Clark arrives back at the Dam to try to find Lionel but it appears he flushes away by the tidal wave and ended up somewhere near a lake unconscious where someone grabs him and takes him away...for the moment.  Meanwhile, Clark arrives back at the dam and runs into Lois, who is with the boy previously possessed by the Phantom.  He notices Chloe's unconscious as they both head to Smallville Hospital so she can get immediate medical attention.  As doctors and nurses try revive her, Lois tells Clark what she remembers before passing out and believes Lex must have done something to them while she was out.  While Clark is hesitant about Lois confronting Lex, Lois goes off anyway to investigate while Clark stays to watch over Chloe.  Back to Bizarro, who takes himself off of a metal piece he was impaled on and quickly kills an innocent man with heat vision.  Awwww really wish they did the opposite of his powers too, like freeze vision and fire breath! :( Anyway, as Chloe suddenly dies at the hospital, Bizarro quickly heads to the Kent farm to heal himself with a piece of kryptonite.

As Clark soon receives news of Chloe's death, he begins to lose it as his super hearing goes crazy until he hears Chloe screaming for help in the morgue.  As Chloe frantically tries to brush off her death while Clark wants some answers, she sees Lana's death chart before hers as well.  Meanwhile, Lex has been saved by the mysterious yet beautiful girl in white before she takes off into the sky and flies away.  Awwww everyone is flying before Clark, Jesus, this is getting frustrating!!! Well he did technically fly first in Crusade but still! :P After a hilarious scene of Bizarro hitting on Lois at Lex's mansion (More hints of Clark clearly wanting Lois BAD! lol), a grief stricken Chloe and Clark try to hold on their tears over Lana to track down Bizarro and stop him.  Unfortunately after Lex is arrested, Bizarro tracks him down and forces him to give him more kryptonite; even if he is shocked that the Phantom replicated Clark instead of possessing him.  Back at the farm, Martian Manhunter returns to assist Clark in his battle against Bizarro, reminding how powerful the creature is now and more of its history as a failed experiment.  I love the conversations here between Clark and Jonn; it really embodies their relationship from comics.  Clark being very defensive and proud of humanity while Jonn reminds him while he was raised by them, he stands alone among them. Nice! So Jon pretty much tells Clark that the key to defeating him is the yellow sun since it's the source of his powers while Bizarro's greatest weakness.

After knocking out Lex and absorbing a vault full of kryptonite, Clark soon arrives at the dam to confront him....only to immediately gets his a$$ handed too him because Bizarro is too powerful to fight with all that kryptonite in his system.  Luckily, it was all part of Clark's plan as the sun is now shinning through the collapsed ceiling and healing him rapidly as well as making him stronger.  After Clark hilarious calls Bizarro back for round two, Bizarro tries to punch him out again but the strength from the sun is too powerful as Clark not only brushes off his punch but punches Bizarro through the roof into the sky as Martian Manhunter grabs him to send him to one of Mars' moons to keep him imprisoned??? How does that work exactly??? O_o  So while Clark remains on the farm by his lonesome, he clearly is ready to move after Lana's death aka eager to move on with his life as well as his destiny! :)  But in a montage of set ups for the rest of the season, Lex is heading off back to jail for Lana's death....while Lana is alive and well in China; hiding in Shanghai (with the most horrendous looking wig I have EVER seen!), Chloe is dealing with the aftermath of her new meteor power and that mysterious blonde girl continues to fly across Smallville; seemingly on a mission.  All things considered, pretty awesome starter to a season that was hindered by so much misfortune behind the scenes but more on that down the line.   There's a lot of cool sets ups and intense wrap ups but it doesn't compare to the magnitude and scope of the previous other premieres like Crusade, Arrival and Zod.  Now, let's see how this season holds up shall we.....:)
