Season 24, Episode 9: Rocking and Rolling

"Rocking and Rolling"
Episode 9
Air Date: August 12th, 2017

WOW! O_O I think what I love most about this episode is its sense of real danger and urgency given the rangers' latest conflict against Galvanax's forces.  Like I said in my last review, I knew there would be a follow up dilemma with Levi's singing career and his newest duties as a ranger as he is going on a world tour that would involve him traveling for 3 months while the rangers are left worried about him not being available for his ranger calling since they really need him in their fight against Galvanax.  Of course, Levi must learn that his ranger duties come first instead of his career and pleasing his fans, especially when his biggest fan, the girl from last episode who won his contest in a nice bit of continuity, is saved by him or rather the Gold Ranger and shows he immense appreciation by being more a fan of the Power Rangers than Levi.  Even wanting to grow up to be one as every kid would honestly.  Nice to know that Levi realized this himself and it looks like Mick won't always be there to make the rangers think clearly and learn their lesson via clever reverse psychology! :P

But I have to say once again, I love the danger and the intensity of the monster plot this week when Galvanax's latest monster, Stone dozer, plans to demolish the arena where Levi is having his big concert to begin destroying the city.  I love how the rangers go all stealth again in their cool looking ninja suits aka actually putting them to good use and not just for training or the morph sequence.  While the Ninja theme is not the strongest, at least having the rangers look and act like them during missions helps a bit more than the absurdity of the Sentai.  Speaking of that, the Gold Ranger costume.....is Cowboy themed! He has a guitar that's a sword and his helmet has a cowboy hat them with the chest piece that has fluffy fringe as well.  It's completely ridiculous but considering the power stars someone how bonding with the rangers give them a theme that's tie into their personality/life styles I get it in this context.  But seriously, what is with Ninja and guitars with Sentai/Power Rangers!???  Anyway, when Levi is more interested in his concert than helping out the rangers during their latest mission, it's up to the main 5 to try and stop the arena from collapses. After more infuriating Victor and Monty non-sense -_-, the ranger arrive in time to help Levi and the thousands of people to exit the arena as it begins to become very unstable.

When it seems like the rangers were caught in the destruction of the arena and their power stars now free for Galvanax, they quickly reveal they escaped using their Ninja speed.  Yeah, NOW use Ninja lore that makes sense! :P  Oh and we get a new crew of foot soldiers this episode called Basher Bots, which are an alternate form of the Kudabots who are apparently a lot stronger in battle but the rangers seem perfectly capable of defeating them in battle so....???? O_o  Anyway, after Levi goes all sixth ranger bada$$ and destroys Stonedozer, Cosmo Royal revives him and makes him GIGANTIFY thanks to the viewers of Galaxy Warriors.  Levi now only get to try out his new storm power star but his new megazord aka the Bull Driver zord and Bull Zord...which is a robot riding a bull themed motorbike.....cause.....NINJA!!! -_-  Sigh.....anyway, the rangers soon call on their zords and form the Rumble Tusk Ninja Steel megazord while Levi forms his own megazord, the Bull Driver Megazord.  I mean it's the most decent looking megazord of the bunch but still....it's some dude on a bull bike as zords!!! That Sentai is utter madness!!! O_O Madness concentrate even! 0_O  Anyway, the episode was still very enjoyable with a nice message that could have been extremely heavy handed but just borders the line of Power Ranger overt sentimentality and genuine character development.  YAY! Barely....:P
