Season 23, Episode 17: Worgworld
"Worgworld"
Episode 17
Air Date: October 29th, 2015
Hmmmmmm a caveman robot, a final battle with the big boss and a duo of orchestrating monsters who's music can turn people into zombies......THIS show has EVERYTHING i tell you!!! O_o While some plot points work better than others, I think the most entertaining thing is the zombie apocalypse angle. Never thought I'd see the day this show would have the rangers literally facing a version of the Walking Dead but it actually works well and is even a bit too creepy for me at times. Just watch when Ivan charges at Koda as a zombie....SHIVERS!!! O_O lol I do like the dilemma it poses to the rangers as Conductro's (Puns again! YAY!!! :) music makes people not only turn into zombies but force the rangers into becoming one as well by listening to the music. I do like how the frequency angle of the music helped the rangers combat the threat with Ms. Morgan and the other rangers having to make their own type of headphones that would block out the musics frequency so they could go out into the music but still communicate with each other. Also the moment when the rangers have no choice but to fight their way through an army of zombies was unexpected and I'm shocked the show would even attempt to have the rangers do such a thing but it was an awesome, unforeseen turn of events,
Luckily, thanks to Koda's very bizarre, sentimental sub-plot with a caveman robot named Worg, the rangers don't have to fight the innocent people turned into zombies as he leads them away as a decoy. Yes, Koda finds a new friend in a museum exhibit called Worg, the Caveman but unfortunately, the robot is a bit too out of control and Kendall tells Koda to put him back in storage. I swear only a story like this could work with a character like Koda who is a bit too golden hearted and naive to see he's just a machine but considering they both share a misunderstood type of situation and not being able to fit in because of both being destructive cavemen, I actually kind of get it. Yoshi just really pulls off Koda's sweetness and makes him so heartwarming even if he is trying to find a connection with a machine that he only shares a caveman theme with. It does lead to some funny moments like the tomato tossing scene and Worg nearly impaling a woman with a spear by getting her hat instead. Ok, maybe not all that funny but still entertaining to watch! lol
I think my only big flaw with the episode is the conclusion of Lord Arcanon's tenure on the show with his final battle against the rangers. The zombie plot seemed like a good enough plan but then suddenly when the rangers manage to stop it, Arcanon confronts them with the dark energem and uses its powers to become stronger as well as destroy the rangers once and for all. It seemed to come out of nowhere, especially when the rangers defeat Arcanon rather easily with the Dino Charge Ultrazord despite the dark energem's massive power. I guess Koda was right in the number of energems they have being more powerful than one single energem even if it was the dark energem?!?? O_o But even more surprising is during Arcanon's pitiful defeat, Sledge comes out of nowhere to reveal he's been alive all along and takes the dark energem to put it in his blaster to use it to destroy Lord Arcanon. Yes, Sledge uses the dark energem to not only destroy Lord Arcanon but Singe and his monsters alongside Fury, Wrench, Poisandra and even Snide helping him to finish them off. Yeah, a bit anticlimatic but I guess it does make for a sort of badass re-entry as Slege as the main antagonist. But one wonders where he's been all along??? O_o Also, Heckyl has managed to escape the guards of the ship and witnesses Slegde's return. What he plans to do next??? We'll see...... "Worgworld" was typical bizarre Power Rangers with a lot going on both serious and outright silly. Even if features the confounding end with Worg having his own caveman themed workout class, the overall episode moves the main plot along; already setting up the final battle between the rangers and Sledge in the coming two part finale.
