As with all of the mandatory holiday specials of this era of the show (and honestly why when I doubt it's a cost saving measure or anything! -_-), "Trick or Trial" sees the main five rangers being abducted by a monster named Scumlaw (of Course!) and put on a intergalactic Halloween trial for their crimes against the monsters they have destroyed.  It pretty much goes as you'd expect with past clips being shown of the rangers' previous battles with the spirits of the dead monsters telling their side of the story but lying of course to make the rangers look like the real villains.  It's not a bad plot, even decent but it's not THAT exciting and is simply there to make all the clips shown have some sort of point.  I think I prefer last season's Halloween Special A LOT more since the whole mystery behind who was the impostor among the rangers really tense with a nice dose of paranoia and mistrust. :)  Here, it's just clip show while the rangers are on trial, nothing too special or out of the ordinary. lol

Meanwhile, Ms. Morgan and Ivan, who haven't been captured, saw the rangers being taken as well as the scroll that tells of the Halloween trial.  Keeper gets his hands on it and tells them more as Scumlaw has NEVER lost a trial and if the rangers get 10 strikes, they'll be destroyed.  Kendall deducts that clearly the jury is rigged because of Scumlaw always winning hi cases and comes up with a plan to get to the trial via his mummy guards.  As Kendall and Ivan act out their plan, the two mummies try to capture them but are quickly taken by two men off to the side.  As the trial continues and the rangers reach 10 strikes, the judges of the trial....who are jack-o-lanterns because HALLOWEEEN! O_o Sentence the rangers to death but soon the mummies arrive with Kendall and Ivan, who the judges order to be destroyed with them.  Luckily, Tyler and Prince Phillip were disguised as the mummy guards and reveal that the juries are just Poisandra, Curio and some Vivix.  As the rangers are of all charges, they are sent back to stop Scumlaw as all 9 rangers immediately morph and fight off Scumlaw and some Vivix.

After defeating the Vivix, the rangers combine forces to destroy Scumlaw once and all for all.  Oh and apparently, Fury is a master of making jack-o-lanterns....how nice! :P  After a clever last scene from Tyler's dad and Prince Phillip, the rangers all head to the Halloween party.  Overall, a decent Halloween special but nothing special like I said.
