Season 15, Episode 4: Heart of Blue

"Heart of Blue"
Episode 4
Air Date: March 12th, 2007

I'm just trying to wrap my head around something but this is some terribly amateurish writing going on here.  O_O And it's just not infuriating and stupid how this episode was so poorly written and structured that it just makes the show look so half a$$ed in terms of effort.  Of course, it doesn't help that "Heart of Blue" is focused on Dax....Mr. I can't stop overacting and gesturing with my face when I'm onscreen!!! Gareth Yuen...I don't know who in their deranged mind told you to approach the character this way but you're making Chip from last season seem so calm and reserved by comparison!!! -_-  I guess I actually have to talk about the episode now??? O_O  So the rangers are trying to figure out the meaning of the scroll, which apparently has two other counterparts like it to summon the Sword of Neptune so they get closer to finding one of the jewels.  While they send off Dax to the museum to find the scrolls, he is distracted by some woman getting attacked by some random monster from nowhere (Seriously!? Huh?) and fights off the monster until he disappears away. O_o the woman is so grateful and starts dating Dax cause she finds him so attractive and interesting (which she doesn't but more on that later! -_-)  Clearly Dax is smitten by her and starts dating her out of nowhere, especially when it's suppose to be the same day and suddenly days, or a week have passed since the rangers ask who Dax is in love with only for Mira to show up and the rangers acknowledging he's been seeing her for a while....wait...WHAT!!? Am i missing something??? The hell!!! O_O

The thing with this Dax and Mira love story, we never see them really date, go out or express any real love for each other until it's revealed little Ms. Helpless is actually some new villain named Miratrix who's been playing him this whole time but Dax was so in love with her!  I'm sorry...WHAT!?  I would understand if it was several episodes of build up or even the episode showing them out and about getting closer but it's all tell and no show in this case.  Not to mention, Dax has got to be....the DUMBEST person...yes, not even ranger, the dumbest person. EVER!!! -_-  You knew it was her all along but you let her leave with the scroll, said scroll was a fake but why take it so personal and deep to the point where the other rangers need you and keep calling you but you're moping about the Hartford mansion playing pool while feeling sorry for yourself!!!? O_o  Oh and for some reason, after some forced talk about loving and losing with Spencer, he tells Dax to do something for him which includes, getting the real scroll and throwing it to the rangers at the megazord so they can defeat the monster with more power.  WHY!!!??? Why not bring the scroll with you and reveal it was a fake all along??? Why tell Spencer to bring it last minute during a fight??? Why would Dax knowing full well that Mira was evil the whole time not go after her at least or help the rangers and tell them what's going on??? Why are the rangers so casual about Mira being evil??? How do they know she's from space?? Who are these new villain muhahaha-ing out of nowhere!!? This plot is so contrived and needlessly confusing, how do they expect children to follow if they don't know how to write competent script?? They painfully try to make Dax look all smart by figuring it out but it just leaves more valid questions about why he chose to play things out this way when it. doesn't. make. SENSE!!!

Honestly, the only entertaining aspect of the episode that was decent Spencer once again being a master of disguise, they really should do an episode around that.  Could he have been a former spy or agent at some point??? It's very Mission Impossible and no I'm not talking about Will with his unconvincing thief skills. -_-   Also, when Mira's poor life is at risk, the rangers are more pissed that they have to give up the scrolls instead of saving a innocent person's life??? Yes, she isn't after all, but they don't know that yet!!!  oh my gawd!!! What kind of selfish, evil morons are you???! O_O *Breathes and exhales, breathes and exhales*  The episode ends with the rangers summoning the Sword of Neptune as it flies off to a map on the wall; showing the rangers' next destination....but one wonders what the sword would have done if the map wasn't there???? O_o All and All, the worst so far and a complete mess thanks to Gareth's over the top acting/facial turrets and a story that is a complete, awful mess. :)  Great job, Operation Overboard!!! -_-
