Season 14, Episode 6: Legendary Catastros

"Legendary Catastros"
Episode 6
Air Date: March 20th, 2006

Well, this was definitely a better episode than the last. We have a ranger in danger while the rest of 4 work on finding a way to save him...BUT did it have to be Nick tho??? O_o  I'm sorry, he just rubs me the wrong way, especially after Udonna tells the story about Catastros and how Koragg gain control of him.  Nick tries to be all manly and fearless when clearly he is and rather make the others look ridiculous.  Tho, in this scene, it's not that hard as once again, Claire makes a fool of herself getting a spell wrong and turning her hair into whip cream.  Seriously Claire, you made yourself bald and overly hairy last episode, now this??? O_o  I get she's suppose to be the comic relief character of the team like Boom but it just makes me scratch my head when Claire's been practicing with magic for a while yet she needs to rangers to constantly help her reverse her spells with their magic.  Are the rangers naturally more advanced than her cause they are destined warriors or something because just doesn't make Claire look good...at all...even if she's there for a couple of magical punchlines.  Meanwhile, in the underworld, Morticon wants the combination power he stole from the rangers but Koragg just lies so smoothly about it that I even had to do a double take and say, 'When was this??" O_o  Yeah, he lied and Necroli makes sure after he leaves to tell Morticon about it as Morticon sends her to the surface world with a crossbow for his betrayal.

Of course, Nick's bravado can't save him for long as he has a terrifying nightmare about Catastros that night.  The next morning, Nick tries to brush it off when even Vida can see how scared he is but the rangers must quickly head to the city as Koragg is attacking.  I swear the rangers should be fired by now considering how many abrupt run outs they do at work, poor Tobey!!! :( Anyway, the rangers arrive to see Koragg combine with Catastros and are fearful they might lose without being able to form the Titan Megazord.  Nick surprisingly rattles them up and they are all summon their Mystic Titans.  Unfortunately, the Dragon formation is once again not powerful enough as Koragg knocks them out of it and prepares to destroy...if not for Necroli shooting an evil arrow thingy at him.  Soooo Necroli.....couldn't wait until Koragg defeated the rangers first?? You HAD to shoot it at that moment huh??  I'm sorry if I seem like I want the villains to win but this sudden in-fighting couldn't come at a worse time. O_O As an injured Koragg does a spell to summon himself back to the underworld, Nick decides to try and stop which messes up the magic seal and transports him as well as Catastros to some alternate dimension.  And I got to say, Nick running away like a big old coward was tolerable considering the wonderful direction during these scenes.  Apparently, this is a real location in New Zealand and is the perfect way to show the eerie, otherworldy feel of being in another dimension, so kudos on the production team.  While the rangers quickly consult Udonna about what happened, Udonna unfortunately can't bring him back since the disrupted spell seal means he can be an ANY dimension....nice! While Nick finally stops running and realizes Catastros is severely injured from Necroli's crossbow, he tries to heal him with his morpher (I like how Nick doesn't even try to morph! -_-)  I get that he can't contact the others but try morphing at least which would have given you a fighting chance to make it out of there. Ehhh!!

Anyway, while the rangers are moping in the woods about Nick, they finally run into Phineas and it's about as awkward as you'd expect.  Unlike last episode, where Phineas was needlessly rambling to Nick about his day, he sarcastically motivates the rangers to be more productive and find a way to save Nick.  Awwww, I like Phineas...he's like Piggy but without the backstabbing, self centered behavior. :)  As the rangers try various spells with no luck at Root Core, Vida gets the idea from the Xenotome that if they were to say Koragg's spell in reverse, they might be able to open the seal again and bring Nick back.  Only, Chip can't seem to remember it and keeps saying he wants "Chicken Alfredo".  Hahahaha, Nick's life is only in danger guys! -_-  Anyway, Nick realizes that he can't heal Catastros with Claire's healing spell but at least he's not afraid of the mythical horse anymore....which is all he needed to finally make it work....uhh huh.   After healing Catastros, Nick gets on him and they ride away, just as Koragg gets his revenge on Morticon for betraying him.  I love how Necroli pretty much says "It was all his fault!" to make Koragg not go after her.  Luckily, the Master is pissed and stops them from fighting while Koragg has sent up a monster with the rangers' megazord power to destroy them.  While Chip...sigh...continues to try to remember the spell, they morph and battle the creature with their Mystic Titans but clearly without Nick and the megazord they can't.  As Koragg watches in glee as the rangers are about to be defeated, Chip remembers the spell as a magical seal opens up in front of Nick and Catastros; sending them back to the surface world.  Now that Catastros apparently owes Nick for healing him, he combines with Nick's Mystic Phoenix to become the Centaurus Phoenix Megazord and once again, these zord designs this season really are taking advantage of the magic theme.  The Centaurus Megazord doesn't just look badass but that flaming double sword!?? Yes, baby! :)  After defeating the monster with the new megazord, the rangers get their megazord power back...only for Koragg to regain control of Catastros after saying...uhhh...

"Yes! Come to Daddy!"

O_O.....Moving on, Koragg is now extremely apprehensive of Nick as he keeps doing the impossible magical before disappearing and leaving Nick confused.  Honestly, I feel like their setting up Nick to be the major character of the show with all this mystery behind him and his past but don't forget the rangers contributed a lot to like he said in saving him. All and All, "Legendary Catastros" is fun for the new megazord reveal and alternate dimension scenes, nut nothing spectacular or to really get you excited for what's to come.  Average at best!! :(

Final Morph: C
