Season 11, Episode 27: Shane's Karma, Part 2

"Shane's Karma, Part 2"
Episode 27
Air Date: August 9th, 2003

So as far as two parters go, Part 2 isn't bad but what was being set up in Part 1 kind of falls apart because once again, this whole plot point is all for Shane to get an upgrade with yet another battlizer.  Now I understand that Skyla and Shane are suppose to have this deep connection and I got to admit that both actors really sell the chemistry but I just don't buy the significance of such a relationship becoming so strong in just a few hours of knowing each other.  Even the build up in Part 1 seemed non-existent or all for nothing in the end.  But not to say Shane's Karma, Part 2 doesn't have it's merits as it's great to see Shane so selfless and courageous; fighting for Skyla's life and wanting her to pass on in peace.  Skyla is a Karmanean aka a race of aliens who must die and pass on their powers to transform into a newer form to continue to another life.  Vexacus is after her of course, because he's a bounty hunter and wants the immense power source for himself.  Still LOVING his character by the way! Such a cunning and menacing villain without trying too hard and I actually like his rivalry with Lothor; especially when Lothor confronts him and they decide to help each other out since Skyla is being protected by a ranger.  Of course, they both plan to back stab each other almost immediately after putting their differences aside at the moment which is hilarious....

Sigh...not so hilarious as usual, is the dumbest of unnecessary hijniks as Marah and Kapri continue to make utter fools themselves trying to have their high school reunion on Lothor's ship.  You know what's really bad about villains like these???  It's like the writers don't care how stupid or ridiculously inept they are.  I mean Marah and Kapri in particular are made to look so stupid and laughable that even their former classmates have a scene telling them to their face how much they are STILL losers after high school! Yeah, no kidding! If that wasn't bad enough, we get yet another scene of Chooboo and the Kelzacks making fools of themselves just to get some more supplies for the girls' high school reunion by...stealing the rangers' beach stuff??? I mean...they could just steal from anywhere else in the city instead of attracting more attention from the rangers to once again stop them but whatever...let's see Dustin accidentally hit Chooboo in the face with Tori's birthday cake??? -_-  Sigh....

Anyway, the main point of the episodes of course is the arrival of Shane's new and powerful battlizer and following in the tradition of battlizers, we've seen MUCH worse, but it still looks ridiculous with Cole's battlizer last season STILL looking like the most decent and badass.  With Shyla's incredible lifeforce as his power source as she passes it to Shane during a passable death scene, Shane uses his battlizer to make quick work of Vexacus; who he easily defeats in battle.  Meanwhile, Zurgane unleashes his megazord onto the city once more and we actually get to see all 3 megazords on screen for the first time during a zord battle.  It's great seeing them all work together from Cam stealing back the sphere from Zurgane to give back to the other rangers while striking him while the other 3 megazords form the Thunderstorm Megazord to destroy his megazord once and for all.  Also, we get a great if not really cheesy looking chase sequence of Shane using his battlizer to go after Vexacus in his ship when he tries to get away.  Of course, the battlizer with it's multiple lasers and defensives easily overpowers his attacks and Shane seemingly destroys Vexacus along with his ship....only to quickly discover he has not only survive but is now working for/with Lothor now??? O_o Ummmm...ok....whatever!!! Just don't make him suddenly dumb and useless like the other generals so far this season as the potential with Vexacus is massive and his introduction was nicely handled.  Otherwise, a solid, if not ultimately unnecessary twp parter.  Nothing more than marketing for a new battlizer with a cool new villain but not as much plot movement as you'd expect.  Oh well....I'll take what I can get! :)
