Season 26, Episode 3: End of the Road
"End of the Road"
Episode 3
Air Date: March 16th, 2019
Hmmmmm, I'm enjoying the way things are being revealed about our trio of rangers as well as supporting characters. We have already learned that Devon's father is the Mayor of the city while Ravi's is Commander Shaw, the rangers' mentor and leader of Grid Battleforce's operations. Now we realize that the new anchor woman we saw in the premiere is also Zoey's mom as Zoey tries her best to prove to the Mayor how much Morph X will allow people to ride her clean energy fueled bikes all around the city instead of too many cars being around to the point where they have to demolish a forest area to make room for a new road for travel. I really like Zoey and her obvious character arc of proving herself constantly by not only being a ranger but by her own beliefs and ideas for the betterment of the city. Tho I do find issue with her and the Mayor thinking a bunch of Morph X around the city in bikes is a good idea with Evox and his evil Avatars after the Morph X??!!! O_o Yes, the Beast Morphers are the best defense against that threat but that's literally leaving a ton of source of power that your new enemy is after all over the city, which will make it hard to keep up when they can pop up at any minute. Just in this episode alone, Blaze and Roxy are able to steal enough Morph X for Scrozzle to power another Gigadrone and send it to the city after a tower again!!! -_- Yes, the original point of Morph X is to sustain clean energy, but with the threat of enough being constantly taken to revive Evox, they should just keep all of it self contained at Grid Battleforce! O_O
I mean I understand how getting Morph X out will quickly lead to a world with A LOT less pollution and cleaning up the world but what's the point when your enemies can just swing by and steal some whenever they want??? Meh! I guess I can still appreciate Zoey's story and how it also leads to some character backstory for Nate and his own family. It's a small moment but incredibly sweet as we get to know more about our supporting characters. :) And hard to believe but during a hilariously over the top chase sequence between the rangers after Blaze on the bikes, the bikes soon become instantly popular as the footage of the rangers chasing after Blaze goes viral because what can be cooler than the Power Rangers on Morph X powered bikes!??? Well, apparently, Ben and Betty on a double seated bicycle on Morph X is!??? Seriously, how dumb was THAT guy!??? O_o Anyway, we also get to see the official morphing sequence of the Beast Morphers and I got to say, I like it! I think the live action morph last episode made it more cinematic and impressive but the moment those visors come out of their morphers and go on their helmets is still a visually pleasing highlight! :)
Anyway, while Zoey deals with Roxy's avatar (Because GIRL FIGHT!), Devon and Ravi use their zords to fight off the new Gigadrone attacking the city. We get to see more forms of each zord including the Gorilla mode for Ravi's Wheeler Zord. I really enjoy the Go-Busters mechas as even they are more polished and traditional sci-fi in design than the previous seasons of utterly bizarre and baffling zord themes as well as looks. O_o Also we get a nice moment of Zoey and Roxy outsmarting each other with leaves them respectfully in a stale mate. I don't know why, but Roxy giving Zoey a bit of props for outsmarting her was equality kind of refreshing and awesome from a villain. Not to mention Zoey desperately needing a carrot! STILL doesn't make a lick of sense but kudos for the show continuing to make the most of the humor genuine when it ISN'T Ben and Betty......oh boy! Another season or two of THIS!!??? *faints* All and all, I have problems with it, but "End of the Road" is pretty solid in Zoey's development as well as naturally introducing more weapons/upgrades being made for the ranger via the Beast X Cannon that Nate creates so....*Thumbs up!*
Final Morph: C+
