Season 25, Episode 11: Love Stings

"Love Stings"
Episode 11
Air Date: September 1st, 2018

Well, after the somewhat exciting 25th anniversary episode (or special if you want to call it that! :P) , we are back to usual Super Ninja Steel, which means more incredibly annoying and dumb antics from our least favorite duo of comic relief.  Thankfully once again, their collective screentime is limited! Tho I finding more and extremely harder to believe Victor could be any kind of real Jock or popular kid at school when he keeps proving to be such a loser not only at sports, school work, projects, etc.  He tries to ask out a girl to the Valentine's Day dance and is not only rejected but made to look like a complete fool trying to impress her! What a surprise!? *rolls eyes*  Anyway, the main human story of the episode is Preston wanting to desperately ask that new girl in school we met a couple episodes ago, Sandy, to the dance as well.  It's nice character development I guess for Preston but it just shows how bad the rangers are when it comes to assuming things.  Yeah, Sally might be under a spell cause you saw her get hit by a monster by why not try to see more of her behavior to make such an assumption that could be making things worse??? O_o

I guess I enjoyed the misdirection and kind of twist of Sally not being under a spell since she wasn't hit by Venoma's arrows but it only seemed like a minor inconvenience than a problem that would have some serious trouble getting resolved. I mean by the end, Preston still manages to apologize and win her heart but if it was that easy why make a big deal out of it in the first place??? O_o Sigh.....teenagers! *Shrug* As for the monster of the week episode, we see the final appearance of the Galactic Ninjas and I honestly forgot that ANY of them were still alive.  That entire arc has been a disappointment and Venoma like all the others was just a typical monster made out to be a far greater threat when she absolutely wasn't.  Honestly, the most interesting thing about her and the monster plot was seeing the rangers thinking ahead for once by Preston protecting himself from her arrows enough to break the spell by making it seem like he was under her spell as well.  Hey, that rhymed! :P  But outside of that, she's defeated with little to not much effort by the rangers' combined zords and weapons.

I suppose seeing Calvin, Brody and Levi under Venoma's spell was entertaining but nothing was really done with it.  But the actors sure looked like they were having fun being all goofy and out of character again.  But I'm tired of things having to be spelled out by the rangers, once again having to learn the lesson of "Not believing everything you here" to Venoma's laughable dialogue that tells the kids the spell is broken like they can't just be shown it instead of being told! Meh! But there have been far worse episodes and this one was pretty entertaining at times so not too bad.

Final Morph: C+
