Season 25, Episode 12: Fan Frenzy

"Fan Frenzy"
Episode 12
Air Date: September 8th, 2018

It sucks when an episode of Power Rangers seems like it will be one of the best moral lesson episodes in a while or EVER by tackling a subject more realistically than ever instead of the often saccharine nature of how these dilemmas are solved like wrapping up a present with a cute bow tie! -_-  The thing is, Levi's dilemma with an overzealous fan named Chaz, who seriously comes off as a creepy stalker than just your average fan starts off so incredibly well.  It even reminded me of one of Turbo's rare but wonderfully written early season episodes, "Cars Attacks".  Like Kat at the end of the episode when talking to Jenny, Levi finally confronts Chaz for being so outline about forcing him to meet up with his friends, especially telling them he and Levi are friends that I was so shocked! I really applauded that moment as Levi, no matter how much it seems the show forgets, is a major singing star who probably attracts LOTS of crazy fans and let's be honest, A LOT of times fans don't understand limitations or boundaries; being so enthralled by being in the presence of their idol they come off so crazed, selfless and deplorably disrespectful.  Levi had every right to feel that way and it seemed the writers were taking a more mature approach to the life of fame and success.  Hell, they could have even explored this deeper with showing how Levi being in the limelight having a darker side to it with people constantly hounding him for his star status and the toll it has been taken on him by making the rangers realize how much he even despises being famous sometimes. Yeah....that what it seemed like at first....

But once Chaz becomes the victim of the latest monster on Galaxy Warriors, Dreadwolf, the episode quickly disappoints by going the usual Power Rangers route of "I was wrong and you were right!" for absolutely no reason so both Chaz and Levi can be friends in the end! O_O  Are you kidding me!??? Levi had every right to feel that way and even if Chaz became a victim of a monster attack, it isn't his fault! His duties as a ranger come first and Chaz still needed to learn the lesson of being respectful of people in the spotlight.  But no....no....Levi HAS to apologize to Chaz for him being too hard and dismissive of him because he got attacked....like it was HIS FAULT it happened!???  No! -_-  I just don't understand why the episode had to take this direction with the story when it was going soooo well.  Ewwww!!!  Oh and the monster's power this episode is making people turn into werewolves with his stingers! Because turning the rangers into werewolves will make it easier for him to get their power stars!??? I suppose meaning being under his control but STILL....not exactly the most efficient plan that make get quick results! O_o  Honestly, it seems like more of a sub-plot for random comedic relief with Mick getting accidentally turned into a werewolf for a part of the episode; followed by Victor of course, who Monty has to try to control for some big commercial shoot that will undoubtedly make him famous. Awww he didn't get it because Monty broke the spell on him and took the spike out!??? Har Har! -_-

Oh and now, Levi can just randomly summon the Lion Fire armor like Brody because the Nexus Prism showed Mick and Redbot a vision of it!??? O_o  Ummmm, it is possible to get some backstory on the Nexus Prism already!?? -_-  At this point, the power source of the rangers' powers is too convenient and doesn't make much sense until the plot demands it shows the rangers a way out.  Just doesn't allow of development in terms of the team as a whole; making the Nexus Prism constantly a defining factor in their ongoing battle instead of them growing as more heroic and able heroes who need to come up with more creative ways of saving the day.  But no, when in doubt and seriously at random, the Nexus Prism has an out for the rangers and really, what is the significance of Levi being about to use the armor???  Because of saving Chaz?!! It doesn't make any sense outside it was his focus episode and the Sentai footage demanded it when they didn't even have to use that footage if they didn't want to because it doesn't make sense in story to us it!. -_-  Anyway, "Fan Frenzy" is a hazy, even lazy episode that takes something that looked so well written and lots of potential by sucking all the life of it at the end and making Levi look like the bad guy when HE did the right thing by pushing Chaz away, not the other way around! Ewwwwww!!!
