Season 20, Episode 5: United We Stand
"United We Stand"
Episode 5
Air Date: March 2nd, 2013
Well, this feels like a very old school episode of the franchise with a duo of rangers being put under a spell and having to break free of it or the monster of the day will win!. Gia and Emma are best friends as we know, so the writers try to use a plot that will cause a rift in their relationship, making extremely hard for the rangers to save the day. I honestly don't mind this story as like I said, it's like an old MMPR episode like when Kimberly was made to be jealous of Trini or when she and Tommy became so competitive. Of course, in typical Power Rangers fashion, the power of friendship is what's able to break the spell and set things right.......*Shrug* O_O I mean it's the 20th anniversary season and we're dealing with "teenagers with attitude" again...but at the same time, the show has evolved from those days of the teens battling such basic human problems while saving the day. Well, at least for the Neo-Saban era reared its massively ugly head. -_- But like I said, it's something that's standard for the show, even if the resolution seems farrrr too easy! All they have to do is remind each other of how close they are and bam! Spell is broken....not to mention, yet another rangers getting rewarded with new zords!!??? O_O
Yes, Emma receives another new trading card that unleashes the Sky Zords.....because of the power of friendship breaking the spell. I'm finding it hard to take the rangers seriously when they are given endless weapons/zords like this! It was a problem during the first 3rd of Wild Force and of course, Tzachor just cant help but continuing to give the rangers new weapons/zords to take care of their problems. Doesn't really build character when they are constantly giving handouts during every single episode! It's beyond insulting and annoying! -_- I'm sure it's only done because of marketing those toys but at the same time, it seems like the writers are rushing through the footage just to get to these new zords, which would make sense since this is the only season adapting Goseiger. But it's being done so poorly by seemingly pushing the episodes together with constant zord debuts! -_- Meh!!!
Anyway, I say that the only real positive that got me through the episode was Queen Beezara and how she was also putting a spell on all the men of the city, including the boys on the team. Watching them forced to serve her, especially the disgusting, stomach turning hilarity of Noah having to rub her....incredibly horrific, slimy.....*vomits a little* feet just kept be entertained. You can tell that they were having fun with this script! I especially loved the bit where she forces them to stop talking and they keep doing it even after she is defeat aka the spell being broken. But besides that, there's nothing really else that made me enjoy this one. The early days nostalgia was nice and the comedic bits between the guys and the monster were great but Megaforce seems so filler so far with no real story....not to mention, just giving the rangers all these weapons and zords everytime just makes them seem overpowered, like the villains don't even have a chance to win, which is just sad. -_- I mean Vrak introduces himself to the rangers this episode and yet....it's almost insignificant beside Noah noticing he didn't look like an insect like the others.....OK...???? O_o *Shrug*
