Season 20, Episode 1: Mega Mission

"Mega Mission"
Episode 1
Air Date: February 3rd, 2013

............you how when things get bad, they can get worse.....well we're here!!! :) *Points gun at head* Ok, maybe I should give Megaforce a break....there premiere isn't the worst I've ever since as Origins, Part 1 and 2 set the bar so low the only way you can go from there is up!!! -_- Super Samurai just as joyful in its mediocrity...but doesn't mean this episode doesn't set up some MASSIVE problems up ahead but let's just get some things out of the way.  The cast....is actually enjoyable....I mean the acting is decent at best for the most part.....except for one exceptionally horrifying standout but still....this cast seems more likable than the Samurai/Super Samurai cast....for the moment anyway. Emma and Gia feel authentic enough with distinct personalities already with Gia being the soft spoken environmentalist and Emma being the tough, confident best friend who is able to handle herself more than Gia can.  Then there's the other set of besties, Noah, clearly our Billy of the season  and Jake, the athletic, enthusiastic soccer player...who clearly has a thing for Gia, the hottest girl in school.  You mean they already established one of the rangers is interested in the others and not some random plot point at the end of the season....NO?!!! O_o Even the classroom scene where they are discussing which species would outlive the human race, it wasn't bad.....instead of one character's forced line about "humans" and "together we can defeat/overcome anything!" -_- .....Please god....please god don't make me talk about him yet...ummmm moving on! :)

So the girls have plans to go to Ernie's (Oh boy....) while Jake wants to head there too with Noah to buy Gia an ice cream aka hit on her to get things going aka shoot his shot aka......you get the picture!!! But unfortunately, aliens are orbiting the Earth as it approaches...a bunch of insect monsters at that looking to conquer Earth....like it's NEVER been a major target for an invasion....in the 20TH SEASON OF THE SHOW!!! Anyway, because of the aliens landing on Earth and ready to claim it.....a big old Tiki Head in a cave awakens its sidechick, a mobile (terrible looking! -_-) CGI robot named Tensou.  The world is in peril and tells Tensou to recruit teenagers with attitude.....cause it's the 20th anniversary and this is shameless copy and paste of "Day of the Dumpster".  I would even call it a tribute since it's just a update version of the episode: same premise, same character types, same giant head, same robot assistance, etc.  I mean my god, there's a difference from paying tribute and being a complete redo of the same episode...just 20 years later! -_-  Anyway, after choosing the 5 teenagers we've been following like the very first pilot, they are teleport to their...cave...where the ranger keys are revealed (I'm already getting aggravated these things are being teased with no reason behind them being there but whatever)  Jake calls Gosei a Freaky Tiki....yet after Mia gets teleported there, she has no idea what a power ranger is???  Because this is just a season that clearly exists in the main univserse and it's just the 20th anniversary but let's honor the history of the show while acting as if the Power Rangers having been major fighting force for 2 decades at this point!!! -_-  OMG!!! Gosei was even mentored by Zordon but the Power Rangers...like they never existed before!??? O_O Oh, you were suppose to awaken when the world is in grave danger??? Hmmmmm....cause nothing's happened since Zordon died right?? Demons, Orgs, evil mutants from the future, evil space ninja, evil dinosaur man with an army of dinosaur mutated henchmen, Jesus show come on!!! -_-

Anyway, he goes through all the reasons why each ranger was chosen and their specific animal/color...until we get to.....Oh God....I'm gonna have to talk about him aren't I??? :)  Oh.....I need a drink or two....I'll be back........

Ok I'm back!!! :) So the leader and red ranger of the team?? Troy Burrows, a new student in school...has a random dream about a huge battle with the previous 19 teams of rangers.....  Do you know how bad of an actor you have to be when your very first line is the worst thing you've ever seen on this show??? :)  Andrew Gray.....wow....I can't be THAT bad of an actor! I can't believe that, he must be getting absolutely no direction because everyone else seems perfectly natural enough to turn in decent performances but he can't...so it must be his acting...but....I just....it hurts watching him...it hurts....every line he delivers ruins every scene he's in.  Oh he's practicing martial arts on top of a building randomly??? Because we need an even more stoic loner than Jayden last season. Let me just continue...Gosei gives them their mega morphers, tells them about the threat and then just teleports them away to the city (with no name again....*Insanity*) to face off against the foot soliders....Loogies! Because who needs to give the foot soldiers names that aren't a reference to spitting!!! -_- They fight, Gia being a natural badass, handling herself, Jake using his athleticism as well as soccer ball, Emma using her camera to blind the...loogies (I'm gonna be sick! -_-), Troy doing his martial arts thing while Noah tries not to die since he's a nerd who can't fight.

Anyway, it's time to morph and the rangers use their morphers which are mini-sized tiki heads they can put various trading cards in to morph into the Megaforce Rangers.  The outfits are actually really stunning, especially in HD as well as their various weapons.   A sword, a crossbow, some kind of phoenix blaster, an axe and gia's weapon...whatever that is! O_O As the rangers own the foot soldiers with their new powers, the villains, aka the Warstar aliens have sent down a monster to fight them named Scaraba (meh...heard worse!) to be more of a match for him only for the 5 rangers to pose in front of explosions and defeat him with their combined weapons, the Megaforce Blaster. Yay! They won and return back to their base....which is empty cave with random panels around.  So Gosei is proud of them and knew they could do it! Yay! Everyone's all in....except for Emma who feels the helmet would ruin her hair....cause Kimberly making that comment made sense cause she was a swallow valley girl when we met her but Emma suppose to be all about sincerity and nature????  You know what...I take it back! :) This premiere is the worst premiere so far! Troy and the forced references to pilot/first season make absolutely don't make sense are so half assed, what's even the point!??? God help me, why can't I just review Dino Charge and be done with this but I must conclude what I started.  MegaFarce....here we go....*Cries madly* :_(

Final Morph: D+
