Season 20, Episode 2: He Blasted Me with Science

"He Blasted Me with Science"
Episode 2
Air Date: February 9th, 2013

Following up from the premiere, episode 2 is just your basic episode that introduces the zords....but for some reason tries to force some tawdry moral of the day at the end when there was absolutely none to begin with! -_-  I LOVE how the episode opens with the typical prolong with an announcer saying, "the world as we know it use to be a happy, peaceful place' or whatever when NO. This is the 20th anniversary once again and the Earth has literally been attacked consistently from otherworldly evil from space, the future, other dimensions, even the freakin' ground for said past 20 years!!! If that wasn't bad enough, Megaforce's theme song is once again that horrible remix of the MMPR theme that was used for Samurai but now just replacing lyrics with "Rangers forever, MEGAFORCE all together!"  Not to mention, the team's new team call, "Earth's defenders! Never Surrender!" and catchphrase "Megaforce. That was a mega win!" :) ......Oh boy.....Tzachor just LOVES copy and pasting his own work and NOT just the Sentai....JESUS! There's not really much of plot on the rangers' side of things....or a plot at all.  Jake spends the episode trying to get into Gia's pants while Noah meets up with the school's science teacher, the bumbling Mr. Burley, about extraterrestrial life forms as well as mysterious creatures seen like the Loch Ness Monster. Yeahhh......cause in the PR universe, even after everything the world has probably saw by now, they still need to prove the existence of things that are thought to be myths! -_-

On the villains' side of things, after Creepox confronts Troy about fighting and Troy tells him he won't fight him simply to fight (because why fight when you can watch Troy have serious health condition that stops him from emoting! -_-), the other villains, Vrak and Admiral Malkorn get the idea that they need to find the humans' weakness to destroy them and send out a monster named Yuffo to kidnap some humans and test them to see what it is.  It leads to him flying around the city and comparing various humans....in the form of flying saucers (because Yuffo...get it?! -_-) that traps them in nets.  Luckily, Gia and Jake spotted them on their way home from school and morph into action to save them.  I really like the interaction between Jake and Gia as like I said, their actors are doing perfectly fine with the material.  Not to mention, there's an actual romance being built between them unlike like season so.... kudos.  Of course, the other rangers are called when the two realize they can't handle Yuffo and a swarm of Loogies (Ewwwww, why!? -_-) alone; leading to each of the rest of the team arriving one by one to help.  But even with the combined strength of the team and using their Megaforce Blaster to defeat him to free the people, Vrak then reveals his Zombats which are "Far top complex for him to understand" to Creepox.....because that the infamous explanation for how much this show will go on to make worse sense than ANYTHING that has come before it!

Anyway, the Zombots are called and make Yuffo grow! Now that he's 20 feet tall, the rangers have no way to fight him...until Gosei tells them it's time to unleash the zords! He gives them new trading cards they use to summon their zords as we get an awesome Sentai footage sequence of them fighting off Yuffo's various flying saucers. But even that's not enough to permanantly defeat him leading to the rangers having to combine all their zords to form the Gosei Great Megazord, which actually looks pretty stunning.  The best looking megazord of this era of the show so far.  They use it to finally destroy Yuffo for good; leading the villains to vow to destroy the rangers if they are ever gonna claim Earth for themselves.  Like I said, the episode ends with some sudden moral of the day with Gia apologizing for thinking she and Jake could take on the monsters themselves.....ummmm WHAT!??? More bull from Troy about working together, nothing can defeat us...oh shut up and take an acting class! -_- Meh, average at best! We've seen worse! Shrug
