Season 18, Episode 15: The Blue and the Gold

"The Blue and the Gold"
Episode 15
Air Date: May 14th, 2011

Oh boy! So we have one of those episodes where two members of the team seriously clash in terms of personalities.  In this case, Kevin, no nonsense, disciplined attitude toward Antonio, as he finds the newest member of the Samurai Rangers childish and not able to take anything seriously!  Which I don't think is the problem, he does take things seriously, case and point following you around, not to mention, setting up cameras all around the Shiba house to spy on you while you're training but more so he is very obnoxious and over the top in his execution of things.  Hence why you can't stand him Kev as clearly Antonio can handle himself in battle considering the last two times he fought, he completely owned the monsters you were fighting; physical slapstick aside.  Tho I do admit Kevin revealing to Antonio nonchalantly that he knows he was following him and placed all the cameras around the house was pretty hilarious.  But still, this episode, once again, having the writers create conflict out of thin air without rim or reason for it.  Mind you, last episode, Kevin was one of the rangers who approach Antonio to join them despite Jayden and Ji's serious reservations, now Kevin is so adamant that he's not a real Samurai! Ummmm wasn't the point of last episode to prove that he can handle being a Samurai despite not being chosen to be one since his technical expertise and years of training himself more than made up for it???

Now all of sudden, Kevin is telling Antonio to stick to the sidelines and hide while he deals with the rangers' latest threat with the Nighlok.  It's all some forced morality about learning to trust Antonio despite the way he likes to do things but there hasn't really been anything wrong with how he does things at all.  If anything his overt cockiness and need to show off would have been more of a reason for Kevin to have second thoughts about Antonio joining the team.  And for god sakes, enough with the "Fantastico!"  He's not even Latin/Hispanic! -_-  But I digress, maybe this episode has some kind of point to it about cooperating with those who we don't exactly get along with at first.  Yeah, no, it's basically I love a lesson glossed over at the end with no real substance to it.  Just some half a$$ed excuse just to make the Sentai footage between the blue ranger and gold ranger make some kind of sense. Ehhh, I just wish this show would get it together already but that would be asking too much from an era of a franchise where the show is anything BUT!!!!

Soon the other rangers catch on because apparently Kevin is a discipline freak with his training schedule and rejoin Kevin and Antonio, they manage to destroy the monster of the week; which of course leads to the rangers summoning their zords, forming the Samurai Megazord as well as the Octo Spear Megazord.  They destroy the monster and have their usual catch phrase of "Samurai Rangers, Victory is Ours".  But only thing worth mentioning is Deker and Dayu clearly having some sort of past together and her hoping that he some how remembers it...but for now he doesn't.  Interesting!!! Shame we had a tawdry episode with a tawdry resolution.  Also, the plot with Octoroo leading a crew of Xandred's Nighlok to destroy kids' toys to get a well in the human world to fill with Sanzu River water.....ehhhhh, I just can't. And I'm sick of Xandred just sitting around and drinking medicine all day. He doesn't even feel like the main villain at this point with his minions doing more work and coming up with waaayyyy more plans than he has.  Seriously, DO SOMETHING WITH this guy worth watching! Ewwwww! -_- Typical Samurai garbage! What a surprise!
